Dash Knobs

What is the secret to removing and/or replacing knobs for heater, defrost, wipers etc.?
1971 U14, 170 i6, 3 speed

Chris - first you have to take the knob off by loosening the screw on the underneath side of the knob. Then you use the dash tool (Yes a special tool) to remove the back plate nut and Voila it all comes apart. If you need help, let me know I have done this way too many times!  :)
