I did get this finished.  gears and lockers installed.  Rear setup without needing any different pinion shims than what I already had.  Pattern looked good, slapped it back together and off I went.  Went on a trail ride with Scott(RedTinTop) the saturday before thanksgiving.  VERY dry and dusty, though we did find a fair amount of mud.  He was impressed at what I managed to get through, and I only got stuck when the axles grounded.  He fully expected me to need a pull more often since I am running ATs.  The only time it wanted to plow in a turn was when I was full lock in some slick stuff, other than that, it drove pretty normal.  Still tweaking the steering a little bit, and now I've got rear brakes to replace.

That's awesome, it does make a ton of difference with both ends locked.

ended up with a nasty vibration at 65mph.  Determined to be the splines on the rear driveshaft had 1/16 - 1/8" deflection...not good...got a new driveshaft ordered from wildhorses, including u-joints, for $300 to my door.  Should get things running a little bit better.

A wore out driveshaft will certainly cause a high frequency vibration, hopefully that will take care of the issue.

should be here monday.  after it had shipped, I realized that a tom woods shaft would have been cheaper.  WH may be reselling TW, so I may have simply paid an extra $30 to get the same thing.

Yeah, i wish i would have known you needed one before you ordered. Tom is a great guy and builds the best shafts around. Can't beat his prices, fast service and warranty either.

it is a Tom Woods shaft.  Looks like I got to pay $30 for the privilege of buying from wildhorses.  oh well, got a good product for sure though.

driveshaft did not fix the 60mph vibration, though it definitely smoothed out the sub 60mph driving.  Going to check my pinion angle next.  It occurred to me that I may not have ever taken it over 60mph before doing the gears.

got it sorted out.  the front hubs were still locked in and the front pinion angle isn't ideal.  unlocked the hubs and vibration is gone.  between that and the new shocks, it is like a completely different animal.

Isn't it nice to have an easy to fix problem for a change. ;)
