Totally Gassed Up...with no way to relieve that pressure right now.

 ???
went to 'build a fire' in Broncenstein and all it would do is spit and sputter.
1. it gots gas in it (had Carl from sling blade verify)
2. it has a new HEI distributor
3. yes, using original harness and the OLD coil wire...(69 Bronco)
4. Carb is a rebuilt 4150 600 CFM Holley; universal throttle plate with no kick down
5. floats are floating...see 1 above; pump squirters are asquirtin....
6. firing order is ford 302...  1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (counter clockwise as I is an old big block mopar guy)
7. all the bacuum hoses are connected -did change the bacuum advance from the bottom base of carb to the port off the primary metering block.
8. yes, I have it way advanced to get it started but it just ain't got what it takes to run...

My thoughts as to potential problem:
1. existing coil wire is NOT delivering enuff sparks (12v) to the distributor...starts at 12v but drops after ignition
2. vacuum issue in carb.; I rebuilt the carb; not anything fancy here.  did notice that it only had 6 lower screws to hold on base- can have 8 on some...

I am going with 1 above and will wire around the harness to an ign/acc at the bulk head or fuse panel (mine is on the firewall - not in glove box).

ANY THOUGHTS OTHER THAN THESE ABOVE???

JustaFordGuy:
You could just run a temp wire to the positive post on Battery to the Dist.

I'd double check the timing. Also do you know for sure you don't have a late model 5.0 cam? The firing order is different.

lonesouth:
I chased this round and round.  Check firing order eight times at least.  Then verify you are getting any spark, either with a spark tester or a helper who wants to learn about voltage.  I had a bad sensor ring in a distributor on top of incorrect plug wires.

BTIMMONS:
Cam was a summit cam ... I remember you and I checked it by the specs but I can't remember which one.  I don't think it is a 5.0 cam though...will have to see if I can dig up that information. :o

BTIMMONS:
well, here is where I am now:
ran wire direct from battery to test; will fire but not run.  Checked gas, once I removed the carb - hmmmm....gas is phriggin orange looking - almost like the color of the truck LOL :o - BTW, the gas tank was washed out...  Guess I will have to drain the tank and rinse it out again OR buy a new one.  This was fresh gas that I put in as the tank was empty when I hung it several weeks ago in the Bronco.  Will have to drain the lines as well; but before I do that I am going to shove a hose into a gas can after draining the system and try to get it to run - knowing that I have GOOD gas.  I also went back in to the carb this weekend and cleaned it up as well and all looks good - Holley 4160 600 CFM vacuum secondary ebay purchase with Holley Trick Kit rebuild - nothing special here.
I worked the rear brakes and put new wheel cylinders on - brake hose was also plugged before the splitter so will need to replace it.  For grins, I am going to remove the proportion valve up front and blow it all out as well to preempt any other issue with contamination going through the brake lines.  Will post some pics later...
