Steering Gear Rebuild

(1/2) > >>

JustaFordGuy:
I'll be starting my steering gear re-build this weekend. I'm tired or the leak. :P

BroncoBlair:
I just drove Ginaldi's 30,000 79 Landcruiser. Couldnt wait to be out. Sure makes me appreciate my Bronco

JustaFordGuy:
they aren't even close. ;D

lonesouth:
steering rebuild isn't too hard.  Toughest part is getting the teflon rings onto the piston without breaking them(boil the rings and freeze the piston) and then getting the piston back in the housing without breaking the rings(big PITA).  You'll need to reuse one of your lower bearings, as all of the kits I've seen, from local shops, only have one bearing, normally not a problem.

JustaFordGuy:
I've done a few before and you're right, the teflon rings can be a pain. I looked for a kit with both bearings but couldn't find one. My box has no play it it so I think it will be OK.
