steering rebuild isn't too hard.  Toughest part is getting the teflon rings onto the piston without breaking them(boil the rings and freeze the piston) and then getting the piston back in the housing without breaking the rings(big PITA).  You'll need to reuse one of your lower bearings, as all of the kits I've seen, from local shops, only have one bearing, normally not a problem.

I've done a few before and you're right, the teflon rings can be a pain. I looked for a kit with both bearings but couldn't find one. My box has no play it it so I think it will be OK.

I got my steering gear back together last night. It was in worse shape than I expected so I hope it works. I will clean and paint the frame were it mounts tonight and get it mounted back up. I got my fingers crossed.

if there is too much play, send it to WTO and they will get it back to you like new.

There is no play (wasn't any to start with). I just rebuilt it because it was leaking. Two days and still no leaks. Also I think I got all the air out and it feels fine now. If I can just keep my belt from slipping I'll be good to go. I think Explorer Serp it my only hope for the belt problem. They only thing holding me back is what to do with my A/C compressor.
