Title: New center console
Post by: lonesouth on February 11, 2013, 04:01:22 PM
In the design phase right now for my new center console.  This time it will be packing a punch.  Designed for a 10" sub, two 5.25 coaxial speakers and 3" cup holders and a junk tray.

Sweet! I have a neighbor with a homemade CNC machine, I should stop by with a 12 pack and see if he'll make one of these for me (it could carve out the pattern by the sub).

I don't know much about car audio, but does that need an amp? Where would that go? I need to learn this stuff, since I have about 1.5 working speakers in my Bronco, with the stock tape deck/radio. It would be nice to modernize it.

the waffle pattern would be a rigid metal grill of some kind to protect the sub, I just used a pattern that was already loaded into the CAD.  I'm using Trimble Sketchup to do the CAD work.

You would need a separate amp for the sub.  I'm going to be using an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 10" powered by an old school Rockford Fosgate 225.2 sub.  Should be about 500-700 watts RMS to the sub :D

The 5.25s are a pair of Polk Audio DB521 marine rated coaxial.
