Title: 77 U15 (Reddog) build
Post by: JustaFordGuy on February 07, 2012, 12:59:16 PM
When I got this EB a few years ago it was really in bad shape. It took me about a year to get it back on the road. I guess the build process is now complete (kinda) but I'll just post some photos I took along the way.

Day 1, as it sat when we picket it up.

I remember. Seems like it only took you a few weeks to finish it

I did work on it a lot. ;)

The first thing I did was remove the body from the frame. Them I cleaned up the frame, painted it, and redid the brake lines. The brakes had just been replaced before it was parked in the field by the PO.

Next I worked on the engine (also just rebuilt by the PO), tranny, exhaust, etc. I converted from a 3 speed manual to a C4 automatic also.

After the frame was done I started on the body. This was by far the worst part of the build because it was in such bad shape (still not great).

Next I welded in new floors and primed the inside.

Next was bodywork and primer, my least favorite thing to do. :P

Well I finally got it back on the road but very quickly realized that my "rebuilt" engine had an oil pressure problem. :o Turns out the PO had blown an oil filter seal by leaving an old seal on the block during an oil change without realizing it. They must have driven it with no oil because the bearings were wiped out. I was able to roll some new bearings in and everything else looked brand new. It now has great oil pressure.
