Anyone else running synthetic rope on their winch? I just switched. I haven't used it yet but it sure was easier to handle while spooling it up.

I've thought about it for the weight savings and ease of use, but no more often than I use my winch, I feel the money would be better spent elsewhere. Since the synthetic rope degrades over time, I'd likely replace it due to age and never due to use.

I wonder if there is a UV protectant that could be sprayed on it to make it last longer? Maybe 303 AeroSpace? It's good stuff, I use it on my RV. I would need to make sure it doesn't hurt the rope fibers.

I imagine running a winch cover would go a long way.
