Chipper 300 EFI Upgrade
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:03:05 PM »
It will start on Dec. 14th, Hope to be back running by the 16th. Will be doing the swap at dad's shop, well sort of shop, in Ft. White.
If anyone is looking for a reason to get away for a day or the weekend, let me know, got plenty of room for camping, plenty of firewood, and might even be able to talk mom into letting whoever shows up to use her shower :o.
Will be setting up the GoPro to take a picture every minute, then will put it in a video to time lapse it.

Sounds like a fun project. I'll check to see if I will have time to help out but this time of year I have a hard time getting time away from Family stuff.

Pics after while.
Got the intake and exhaust off Chipper, ran into my first issue when I held the lower intake up to the motor, Needs to go rearward another 1 1/2 inch, Man I hate cutting stainless, but I WANT EFI!

And it has begun..........

Before starting

Unbolting the intake/exhaust

Ready for EFI Intake/exhaust manifolds

Oh Noes, Not enough firewall clearance, Nothing a cut off wheel can't handle.

That should be enough

sitting ready for the install on the passenger side, NAPA had to order the gaskets, they will be in at 8:30 A.M. Will worry about the firewall repairs after she is back running. Did check and I can use the serp set up, but will have to modify the core support to move the radiator forward about an inch and a half.

Got the exhaust manifolds and lower intake on today, then POOF, Problems, Checking the injectors, 2 were broken off in the lower intake. Checked the price and with Christmas so close not going to spend the cash on them.
Did get many good parts off of the donor, extra starter, complete exhaust, fuel pump, P/S pump, and the entire front dress.
Tomorrow I am going to get the exhaust modified and installed, Fuel pump will be mounted, and the rest of the usable parts off the donor.

That sucks about the injectors. One thing to keep in mind is that Pick & Pull sells injectors for $6.49 each. I bet they have plenty for the 300. Check and see if they are the same as the 5.0 injector because they have tons of those.

)(#$% $)!#*(%&!&) )!@#$&% _))_!#$%

Not as bad as I am making it out to be, well sort of.
Lower intake- seems there are 2 ears broken off, #1 and #6, guess i will source a lower intake complete with fuel rail
Exhaust- going to have to go custom, the one off the F-150 would fit BUT we lowered the motor 3 inches, the pipe for the front 3 lacks about an inch and a half to fit.

Spent the day pulling more off the donor, anything I may be able to use. Only thing left to get is the harmonic balancer for the serp set up.

Fuel pump and related are good.

It is just going to take longer than I wanted it to. welcome to BroncoWorld!

what injectors(color) do you need?  I've got a bunch of different flow rates laying around.
