What Insurance do you have?
« on: February 28, 2014, 07:28:44 PM »
Okay, first post here!

I recently purchased a 1975 restored bronco. I was going to get it insured by Hagerty's but I was declined because it has a 2 inch lift and a 3.5 inch suspension lift and would be suspected of "off-roading.".

Normal insurers are going to try to compare apples to oranges if something was damaged, stolen or wrecked. Anyone have any suggestions on other insurance companies or policies? What did you all do?

Thanks

I use Grundy. I told them the value and they insure for that amount. Rates are based on declared value. I have both of my Mustangs with them also.

Welcome to the site, be sure to post some pictures of that 75.

Hagerty stated value 15k policy for $300/year.  Will not cover off road damage, but I don't think any will.

I also have Hagerty, I just stated it wasn't being used for off-road. if it gets damaged off road its on me.

hagerty declined me due to photo of jeep on dirt road, same thing saying it was for offroad and modified. Had the web based application said anything about that I would have either used a diff photo or not wasted my time filling it all out....

I got the offical deline letter today stating that I had "excessive off road modifications" in which they do not insure.

My application is at Grundy's Ins right now so I will know something in a day or so.

Grundy's insured with no problems and the premium was substantially less than Hagerty's quote.

No doubt! Putting on new Bilstein shocks Friday and just took off the rear armrests to get the vinyl redone. Then i am up and running 100%.  I would like to get some nerf bars but haven't seen anything of quality. I have RBP nerfs on my Dodge and those are sweet. Think I am going to swing by Tallahassee welding and get my man Kenny Small to make me a custom set unless anyone else has some input.

I would like to see what everyone else is doing in person as I am a newbie and cheated and bought one fully restored. Does anyone ever get together? Keep me posted.

I'm interested in how the Bilsteins do, I'm running  Doetsch Tech Pre-runner 8000 series on mine and they are very well built but a little stiff on the street.

I think custom is the way to go, I have never seen anything from a vendor that I liked. I'll be building some custom rock slider/nerf bars soon. I plan to use 2" x 6" tubing probably 3/16" thick and running them from fender flare to fender flare.

A few of us get together every Friday for lunch to talk Broncos. Tomorrow it looks like only 1 of 2 of us are going to make it but everyone is welcome. Let me know if you are interested and I'll post where we are meeting.

My Friday may be a little hectic. If I can make it I would like to meet up so keep me posted or email me and let me know where and when.

I have seen some good looking rock sliders but the installation required cutting and modifying the sheet metal which I do not want to do. I am going to look more into mounting/welding  the nerfs directly on to the frame if possible.

can you post pictures of your bronco on the gallery? We need to plan a Saturday meeting soon for those that can attend. Maybe at Sonic on N.Monroe the 1st Saturday of next month. I believe that is when they have the cars shows there.
