Some folks going to get togeather and ride Saturday Feb 2nd yall plan to come!
-
Hey Brian,
I will be there for sure. I'll try to gather up some of the other Tallahassee guys. What time are you guys getting together?
-
I say 9.30am at sand dune hows that sound?Hey get lonesouth and your brother too.
-
Sounds good to me but I'll need you to send me the address for the sand dunes because we met at the trail head off of Blaylock the last few times.
I'll try to gather up the Tally guys and I have a guys that works for me that has an old Blazer that wants to come if that cool with you.
-
Who is planning on going to this trail ride from Tallahassee? I figured we should all drive up together if possible.
-
Hey all is welcome we have a jeep guy coming :o 419 sands drive albany Ga or 409 sould get you close 9.30am sat feb 2nd
-
i'm planning on it...caravan is good, not sure adrienne is going to make it.
-
I am going. Definetly going to follow thats the longest journey mine has been on
-
Going to try and make it, depends on how the EFI swap mis coming along, Going to get hard at it this weekend, Picking up the injectors tonight so may have it going by Sunday, then just have to get the exhaust done and the firewall repaired.
-
all of the seats and seat belts are out! only took about 1.5 hours. I don't know why I didn't buy an impact driver YEARS ago. If you don't have one, you need one, you just don't know it.
-
As soon as the temp gets above 40 this morning I am off to the shop to get started on the EFI again, Thanks Lonesouth for the injectors and Gary for the dinner. Great hospitality from some great guys!
-
Hey Rev, I hope the EFI goes smooth, be sure to keep us posted on your progress.
Parker, if you need any help tomorrow let me know, I will be helping Blair with his Bronco until after lunch but after that I should have some time.
-
Going to go pick up some Polycarbide Abrasive Wheels from harbor freight today and give them a shot. Think I ought to be able to get the bed stripped in a couple hours. Stop by when you get done and we'll see how far I've gotten. Can you check for that taurus fan too if you get a chance.
-
Adrienne has a paper due sunday, so I won't be able to work on the bronco till the kids are asleep in the evening. I should have more time during the day on monday. I'll let you know.
-
I checked and I put the Taurus fan on the Fox Mustang. The only one I have left is the wide double fan. I'll get some measurements and we can see if it will fit.
-
spent about an hour grinding tonight. Don't think I'm going to strip the whole tub. The places where the bedliner was put over original metal has a strong bond. It it only where the PO replaced metal that it didn't bond well. I ground off all the liner/rust from the new metal and hit all of the places that had chips to be sure it hadn't weakened. Tomorrow I'm going to wash the whole bronco, prep the tub with acetone and put down POR-15 where needed. I'll also sand the cage and rattle can it black. Monday I'm going to put down peel-n-seal from firewall to tailgate, install the cage, fit the carpet and reinstall the seats/belts. Don't think I'm going to get the new seats fabbed just yet.
-
Working hard on the Bronco but it will not be done today as hoped.
In further developments, looks like I am out of it due to a death in the Family, I may be headed to Indiana in a day or so to take mom up for the funeral of her Aunt. Such is life in the Bronco world I guess.
-
Dang Brian, I hate to hear about your great aunt. Hang in there and let us know if there is anything we can do.
Maybe you will be able to just come on the 2nd and ride with one of us?
-

Sounds like you're making good progress. If you're going to work on it tomorrow after 5:00 I may be able to come by after work for a few hours. Let me know.
-
I pulled the complete engine harness from the donor, it is missing a few of the connectors, like the coil, Guess Imma junkyard hop and grab me some extras.
Thanks for the well wishes, Looks like I leave Tuesday, and will return this weekend, but the cost of the trip kills funds for SOWEGA.
-
picked up a new compressor from harbor freight.
http://www.harborfreight.com/2-1-2-half-hp-10-gallon-125-psi-air-compressor-67708.html
Hopefully this will be enough to spray with, it has to be better than the two smaller units and I can still piggyback one of the smaller compressors to up the CFM. And it will still fit under my workbench.
-
That should work fine for the little spraying you have to do. You should be able to spray the whole interior in less than 15 minutes.
-
interior is painted. I'm spraying the cage.

-
Awesome, I guess that means your compressor worked?
-
I used a brush on the tub. The compressor spins up and builds pressure, but I haven't had a chance to test anything beyond that. Last night was too cold to spray anyway. I think I'll be able to shoot the first coat on the cage tonight.
-
Hey Guys,
Just over a week left to go before the trail ride. I hope everyone is almost done getting their Broncos ready.
The plan is to meet up at the Bradfordville Publix shopping center at 8:00AM on Saturday the 2nd. We will convoy to Albany Ga from there.
See you soon.
G
-
OK it next weekend hope to see all there sorry your not going to make it REV I am giving you a hard time on classic.
-
so what time to meet in Tville? and where?
-
Hey Bob,
We are meeting in Albany Ga at 419 sands drive at 9.30am sat feb 2nd. We won't be coming through Thomasville on the way from my house, we will hit 19 in Palham Ga.
-
I'm going to be installing the peel & seal tonight starting around 9. Anyone who wants to help/surpervise/drink beer, stop on by.
-
You know that's past my bedtime. ;)

missed out on a good time...well it was a time anyway...
took about three hours of working with the material to get it all down. I ended up cutting it to ~6" sections, so it would have worked out fine to use the smaller rolls, just would have cost more. I did my daily driver car in dynamat extreme a few years ago and this stuff is much easier to work with. The dynamat is thicker and has a thicker foil, which translates into, it doesn't bend as easily. That said, I think it would be faster to lay down one layer of dynamat than two layers of Peel & Seal.
I really can tell a big difference in the way the tub sounds. It is no longer tinny at all. I can drop a tool and all I get is a thud, more of the kick drum and less of a top hat. I read elsewhere that a 4" paint roller with the rolling part removed, so you have a wire with a sturdy handle, works wells to get into the nooks and crannies, and they were right. I used that joker for about 75% of the time to get the material to flatten out. The other tools I found useful were a 12" section of copper pipe and a copper T with about 4" of pipe sweated to it to form a handle.
I did notice that I had significantly fewer cuts after laying the peel & seal than I did after the dynamat. I chalk this up to the thinner foil retaining less of a straight, cutting edge after being paired down from the full size mat. That said, I still have a few cuts on my hands, my back is soar, my knees hurt and my hands generally feel like I've been clearing thorny vines all day. I found out with the dynamat that wearing gloves helps, but you lose the tactility required to peel and handle the material.
I will report more after I have the carpet, seats and cage installed.
-
Looks awesome, I bet it's going to make a huge difference.
You better get that cage and some seats in quick. ;)
-
stop by tonight and we can place the cage.
-
looks good. i will do that to mine after its painted. i am ready to go. guess i may trailer mine up there so we will have a trailer just in case someone breaks something
-
What time are you going to be home?
-
I'll be home around 6.
-
I'll try to come by if I get a minute.
-
sounds good. I figure all I really need help on is physically picking the cage up and putting it in place. I can do the drilling/bolting later.
-
Thinking we may trailer up as well.
-
Thanks to Gary for helping me drop the cage in. Still need to bolt it down and install the rear seats. 24 more bolts to go.

-
That cage looks awesome. Now get that thing bolted in and get your fuel tank put back in and you'll be ready. ;D
-
Cage is installed, though I still need to put in two bolts. Seats are installed. Gas tank is installed. And it cranked up. Also found new tires for my trailer which i will pick up tomorrow and have mounted on Friday. Still need to install the radio, put the soft top on, and install two more bolts horizontally to better secure front bumper.
More work on the bronco in a week than I have done in a year.
-
It will be worth all the work.
-
I'll never admit it to Adrienne, but I'm looking forward to not needing to wrench on the bronco a little. headed to Buca di Beppo for dinner tonight :)
-
leaving Madison at 7:30 should be there right at 9:30.
-
leaving Madison at 7:30 should be there right at 9:30.
Look for the line of Broncos along the way. ;D
-
Who is planning to meet me at Publix on Saturday and convoy to Albany?
-
Tucker and I will be there...planning to trailer.
-
I wish I could go but my ride is not drive-able at this time.
But I'm working over time on it now so I can make the next trail ride.
-
you're still welcome to come along. There's sure to be an empty seat.
-
Me, Matt, and Luke will be there
-
dropped the tires off at walmart to get mounted this morning. Going to put them back on the trailer after work and haul the trailer to my house. Need to button up a few more things and put the soft top back on. Feel free to stop by and help/supervise/drink beers.
-
Parker love that you keep updating the Bronco, then someday you will have so many kids youll have no time for it and sell it to me all nice and fresh...

The ride was awesome. It was also great to see everyone again and meet a few new friends. This was the best SOWEGA ride for sure, We had a blast. ;D
There were a few mechanical issues along the way but that's all part of the fun. ;)
I counted:
12 Broncos
