Planning for the next item on the list. Going to go ahead and do front disc conversion. Looking at this kit from Horsepower Sales.

Will install Warn hubs at the same time. Will this kit work with the master cylinder on the Tom's booster kit I already have?

I hope the links work.

That's a good price on the disc conversion. I need to show it to Blair because he wants to do the same to his.
The drum/drum master cyl is different but the one in the picture from your link is a disc/drum master. You just need to check and see which one you have. The disc/drum master has one large reservoir and one small one. The drum/drum are almost the same front and back.
-
I may have a spare master cylinder. I know I have two in the shed, need to see if they are disc/drum
-
mine is a disc drum master cylinder already. I bookmarked that site and will be installing the disc brakes this summer as well. looks like a great deal. let me know how the install goes
-
the only part you may still need is the proportioning valve

Thanks for the input. The master cylinder I have is the one in the picture. There rear is about twice the size of the front.
-
That one should work then. There is one small piece in some of the master cyl on drum brake vehicles the stops the fluid from releasing all the pressure back to the cyl after you take your foot off that you may have to remove. I can't remember the name but if your front disc brakes drag some after your install that's what's causing it. I think it's easy to remove. If I remember the name I'll post it up.

Should I plan on changing wheel bearings while it is torn apart? No noticeable play with front axle in the air.
-
Yes, especially if the rotors/hubs have new races. The bearings are cheap anyway. ;)
-
Get the part numbers on the bearings and I'll see if Scotty can get the good ones.
-
Hey Joe, did the kit come with the bearings and spindles? Let me know what they say when you talk with them today.
-
I got it figured out. What they sent was right. Just had to walk away from it for a few minutes. It was an installer issue. One side done. The other will go much faster...I hope.
-
That's good to hear, let me know how it turns out.
-
Finally finished it today. It is amazing the difference it makes. Took me a while, but that is typical.
Blair, I would definitely recommend this kit. One good surprise was that the calipers come machined to fit the 44. Although the directions say some may have to grind the knuckles a little, mine has plenty of clearance without it. The first side took forever and the other side about an hour and a half.
Bled them for hours trying to get a good pedal before I figured out I needed to turn the pushrod on the booster out a few turns.
Thanks to Gary for talking me through my brain lock and Parker for the use of the hub socket.
-
That's great news, I'm glad the kit worked out good for you.
-
good to hear you got it all together!
-
has anyone ever explored weather or not you cant take the discs off of a twin I beam and use them on a 44?

Seems like there are a few parts you can use but some you can't. I remember seeing a list of parts that work on classicbroncos.com somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
I also remember someone had installed a TTB 44 in an early Bronco, it was kinda cool and probably drove nice.

Thanks gary, i'll check back and look for it
