Leaking Windshield
« on: April 04, 2012, 02:30:40 PM »
Got rained on yesterday and my windshield hinge leaks really bad. It drains right on top of the glove box and onto my speaker. :'( I think I may have put the seal under the hinge backwards? which way does the fat side go, front or back?

Not sure but wanting to say thick end back on a stock, welded in windshield frame, Thinking of the dynamics of it that sounds right, I used the foam that is for truck toppers on mine due to having to seal not only the frame to cowl, but the pop rivets used instead of welding, 2 years no issues.

I think you may be right because if the fat part was behind the edge of the hinge it could seal the windshield frame to the top of the cowl. The other way ( the way I did mine) I think it would just seal the middle of the hinge and let water go between the hinge and frame and hinge and cowl. I bet that's what's happening. I guess that means I have to take my top back off? :-\
