Title: How to pull a C4
Post by: lonesouth on April 08, 2014, 10:13:41 PM
It's been two years since I last did this so I figured I may as well ask for a refresher.

Fill in the gaps:

1. drain transmission
2. drain transfer case
3. remove drive shafts
4. loosen cross-member bolts at frame
5. remove starter
6. remove transfer case shifter
7. remove transmission shift linkage
8. remove kickdown linkage
9. remove exhaust from manifolds
10. remove cooling lines
11. remove inspection cover
12. remove torque converter bolts
13. remove bellhousing bolts
14. remove cross-member bolts
15. remove transmission and transfer case
16. separate transmission and transfer case

Sorry.  Can provide no knowledge on this.  Can offer assistance or moral support if needed.  Remember, I have first hand knowledge on the importance of asking for help. ::)

don't forget cooling lines , I find it easier to separate transfer case and drop it first but make sure you support the back of transmission and unbolt bell housing after transfer case is out. The weight and awkwardness of it in one piece is the reason I do it in two pieces. just my two cents

Don't forget the torque converter bolts before the bell housing bolts. Also the cooling lines need to be removed first.
