Sounds like it will be a good mod going forward even though it was a lot of work. Change those plugs and wires and you should be good to go.

Have you done anything about your trans yet?

I've got the timing a advanced a little bit into the hard start area, but it cranks right away after that first hesitation.

The trans has decided to start working again in all gears, but there is a buzzing sound when shifting to D,2,1 that souinds like when a piece of paper is hitting a grinding wheel on a bench grinder, and it doesn't work too well.  Also, the engine will rev happily in P/N but it acts strange when loaded by the trans.  Think I need to, at a minimum, drop the pan and valve body and get you to take a look at it before we decide to drop the trans.

If you drop the pan and valve body that will tell us a lot. We will be able to check the bands also.

not yet.  I've rolled it back and forth 4' a couple times to get to stuff around it.  I'll pull the pan tonight after the kids are asleep.
