This topic gets a lot of traffic over on CB.COM so I figured I'd make one here. ;)
-
I just waved goodbye to mine as I pulled out of the driveway. :'(
-
nothing too cold!!
-
True that, it even took a while for Great White to warm up this morning. :o
-
Mine is getting torn down to seal a bedliner the inside. I may have to ride shotgun on the next trail ride if we go this weekend
-
Gotta fix the Laser First (new power head baby), then put the fuel pump in the Unimog. I will be pulling the 73 over to the barn this weekend regardless. 8)
-
You need to get your priorities straight, Bronco then Mog then Boat. ;D
-
greg, I agree with Gary the Bronco comes first. Let me know if you need help getting started
-
Totally gutted my interior and removed soft top to get ready for liner ::)
-
what liner product are you going to use?
-
Did you order anything yet or are you going to just get something local?
-
Oh, I did drive mine yesterday. Picked up new fluids and filters. The I realized I could have the oil changed at Napleton or Kraft for $10, cheaper and faster than I could do it myself, so the fluid and filters are going back.
-
How do they do it that cheap? I bought a gallon of cheap oil yesterday and it was over $20. >:(
-
they take a loss on it, but try to upsell on wipers, tires and other consumables.
http://www.kraftnissan.com/OilChangeSpecial.aspx
excludes diesels. Call before and ENSURE they have a filter on hand. One day I took both cars in, and after telling me they had a filter for both, they had neither. So make sure they have your filter.
Also, last time Adrienne took the 4runner in, it took 2 hours.
Napleton is running $10 changes also, but synthetic runs $69. Again, call before you go.
-
I am going to use Raptor X
I ordered today
http://www.tptools.com/Product.aspx?display_id=2600
-
nissan will only do non domestic vehicles for that price
-
Will it be here in time for the weekend?
-
nissan will only do non domestic vehicles for that price
That's what I thought. I would rather pay extra and not take mine to a jap car place anyway.
-
nissan will only do non domestic vehicles for that price
I thought so as well, but just called and and was told they do foreign and domestic.
And Gary, if you think about it, by taking your car their just for the oil change, you are costing them money, not making them money.
-
That may be true but unfortunately both of those dealerships are x customers of mine. They both left us in the middle of a signed contracted term, owing us money. They are both owned by shady people.
-
Yikes... :o
-
I have been by there in my old jeep and was told they could change the oil but the 10.00 deal was only for foreign vehicles, maybe they changed
-
I worked on my Motorcraft 2100 a little more this weekend. I almost have all the kinks worked out. It's not hesitating anymore, the choke is adjusted better so it's easy to start when cold (although the fast idle is sticking a little) and it seems like the hard start after hot issue is a little better. More updates later this week.
-
Pissed off a new vendor on ClassicBroncos. Drove it yesterday, driving it tonight. Got the oil changed. Picked up a new air filter. Still need to change diff oil and repack the front bearings.
-
Saw the Home Depot green bronco on thomasville rd, stopped at the light and gave him a business card.
-
Awesome i have been trying to get up with him.
-
Good job Parker, slowly but surely we are finding all the local Broncos. ;D
-
Alfredo, now has two buisness cards. for BBB so he can pass one to the next person.
I noticed the one lonesouth gave him after tossing another on his seat.
-
Now he has no excuse.
-
Inside primed and ready for paint
-
Also recieved new TOMS and Wild Horses catalogues yesterday.
-
The primer turned out good. How fast is it drying?
I got my WH catalog yesterday also, I notice that Herman's and Shamu's trucks are in there.
-
Its still wet in some places this morning maybe it will be dry by tonight. I have roll bar to get fixed in my truck
-
Now painted and dry
-
Looks good. I'm surprised it dried with the weather we have had.
-
Are you ready to start putting it back together?
-
no i am going to build side panels and install the roll bar you fixed first
-
Drove mine to work, lunch, and dinner. It rained all day and my new top didn't leak a drop.
Yippy!!!! ;D
-
Fixin a little rust on my door today. Have I ever told you how much I hate rust? >:(
-
Still fixin rust. The more I fix the more I find. :'(
-
Did some welding on Blair's roll bar. Turned out good.
-
Worked on Roll Bar and dash plate to fix someones jacked up stereo installation. Now working on Painting Roll Bar and side panels
-
Converting it into a Hovercraft!!! ;D
New shoes will be here tomorrow.
-
what did you decide to go with? Nick getting your old tires? What wheels?
-
33" KM2s.
We're putting the Coopers on Nicks truck.
I'm using my wheels for now. May get something different later. ;D
-
Cut and test mounted rear panels
-
Looks good. You will be surprised how much quieter it will be, especially with the 1/2" panels. Have you decided on carpet or vinyl yet?
-
where do you guys find the time!?
-
I have to spend time in the garage to relieve stress so recently i have been getting alot done.
I am not sure but i am going to look at lowes for carpet i like first
-
BY the way since btimmons borrowed my jig saw 3 years ago and has not finished with it yet i had to cut all the holes and curves with a sawsall and skill saw
-
That just ain't right, what's wrong with that boy? :o
-
you can get automotive carpet from partsexpress.com rather cheap, and the quality is good.
-
Thanks i look at that as well .
http://www.auto-interior.com/index.html
has carpet to match per foot as well
-
Got my new shoes.
-
how do they ride?
-
Good, it seems like my vibration over 60 mph is gone. I guess the wheel wasn't bent, the tire must have just been out of balance.
They are real quiet right now (much quieter than the Coopers) but I'm sure they will get louder when they wear some.
-
looks great!
-
Safelite installed my new windshield and gasket today! Only surface rust beneath the old gasket!
-
Only surface rust beneath the old gasket!
That's good, you never know what you're going to find under there.
-
I washed the pollen off it. It'll be back on there by tomorrow. :(
-
I installed a neutral safety switch and hooked up my backup lights. I also left the dash mounted switch for the backup lights installed so I can switch them on with the truck off if I need to.
I also noticed that my transfer case isn't leaking anymore after our last trail ride. I bet it didn't fix itself, it's probably out of oil. :(
-
I installed a new stereo, side panels in the rear with 4 new speakers, and satelite radio
Also drove it to work today
-
Did you get the panels covered?
-
not yet will do that next weekend
-
Little late so I will do it this way.
Sat. Drove it 160 miles from my house to Mom's towing the boat, Old school too, Boat is an older v bottom with a 66 9.8 Mercury!
Sunday. Drove to Perry, and driving it to work,
Yea not work to the Bronco but have identified some things that need attention at the end of the month
Rear driveshaft, Slip joint is shot.
Steering, getting a little sloppy.
Top. The top lost both rear straps. It has lasted almost 2 years and being a NOS one I am OK with it.
-
I bet it was nice to get back behind the wheel. :D
-
Sure was, cannot wait to get the few little issues fixed, This job is going to give me a chance to spend some coin on it, not beg and borrow like my last job.
-
Get your parts together and I'll come to Perry and give you a hand.
-
I installed my new steering wheel. Now I have a working horn and auto canceling turn signals. It also looks kinda cool. 8)
-
drove it to work. drove to lowes, walmart, and out to KK on Iamonia. As much bronco as I've had in a single day.
-
picked up a muffler from a 2006 f150 for free! Joker is BIG too, gotta figure out how to make it fit!
-
I want to put a factory truck muffler on mine too. Let me know how it works out.
-
Sucker is HUGE ~30x8.5x12. I may be able to mount in under the passenger seat outside the frame rail. 2.25 inlet/outlet.
-
Dang, That is big. :o
-
How thick was the peel-n-seal you put down?
-
I didn't really measure it but it's thicker than I expected. It's also very dense so it helps a lot with sound control.
-
touched my fenders this morning and looked at my grill dangling from the garage ceiling.
-
That's better than nothing. ;D
I just drove mine to Blairs and back.
-
drove to tennis...nearly rebuilt the carb last night, but knew I wouldn't finish and would not be able to take it tonight. Maybe tomorrow.
-
When you re-build it remember that float level is super critical on the Motorcraft. If it's not just right you will never get it to run right. Ask me how I know. ;)
-
I watched the air leak out of the front tire. I thought about pumping it up but didn’t, maybe tomorrow. Guess one day i will have to remove it from the rim and clean up the bead
-
Put on a dash cover and plastic glovebox insert I pulled from a parts bronco yesterday. Pulled a soft-top channel too, but don't own a soft-top or bikini yet so I will hold off till I do.
-
Finished my CB install. Now I just need someone else to get one installed so I'll have someone to talk to. ;D
-
working on that one Gary, Got to get a few other things first!
Installed my new Heim steering from Duffs, All I can say is WOW, Drives better than ever. Just have to do a little tweak on the tow in and it will be better than a new one!
-
Sounds awesome, be sure to post some pictures. ;D
-
thinkin about working on the dash and window frame tonight...
-
Driving home from work yesterday the front left tire locked up. I was able to make it to justafordguys house. will have to wait till next week to repair.
-
brakes or hub?
-
Not sure yet, I may try to pull it apart this weekend.
-
not sure yet. I will have to wait till next week. I am thinking hub because brakes working fine still. but sounds like brake spring
-
I've got a spare set of hubs if that turns out the be the problem.
-
Thanks i'll let you know
-
I cussed at mine yesterday...bad words.
-
Gary,
Is this the lift you were telling me about?...
http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/Custom_Body_Lift_Kit_1in/Bronco_Body_Lifts
Also, I added a couple of the turkey pics.
-
That's the one. That's a good deal for the body mounts, hardware, and a 1" lift.
-
gonna move forward with fuel injection on the 351. Looking to send out my harness to be reworked rather than doing it myself. Already have everything, I think, to get it done.
-
what fuel injection? Throttle body injection or port injection and what brand?
-
91 mustang stock injection. stock harness modified to work, stock injectors, truck lower intake, BC intake adapter, mustang upper, early 90's f150 fuel pump, A9P ECM.
-
Yesterday I noticed that my fuel tank is leaking. I wish someone made a replacement for a 77. :(
-
I drove mine to work today, leaking fuel tank and all.
-
I cant even see mine in the garage, so much crap packed around it from moving again.
I plan a tear down to fix all the little issues. and paint
mine should be back on the road in the fall
-
Installed an electric fan out of a crown vic. its 18 3/4 inches and fits the radiator perfectly.
Had to modify water pump and radiator mounting brackets for clearance.
Hopefully it runs much cooler in traffic and on the trails.
-
I drove mine to work today.
-
Me too, I've been looking forward to driving it all week. ;)
My Raptor is really cool but it's just not the same. ;D
-
Worked on my windshield leak. It looks like it's coming through the hinge. The seal is good so I think it's going between the hinge and frame, through the spot welds. Any ideas on the best way to seal it up?
-
I Wired up a switch on electric fan (used an old headlight switch bezel to make the switch match the others on dash).
Installed fender Flares on drivers side and started passenger side.
Installed a radio Antenae.
Installed new wiper switch.
Tonight I will start on installing new drive shaft, new ubolts, and finish the passenger side flares. Then its time to replace front axle seals and ball joints
-
Sounds like you made good progress. If you want to do the ball joints soon you should spray them down with some blaster so it can soak in.
-
wow that raptor stuff looks like it could be used for just about anything
-
I fixed my window crank. I also used the Bronco to pull the mustang out from under the car port. It had a burn fuseable link so it wouldn't start.
-
stripped out all my interior and hood doors and tailgate getting ready for minor floor pan replacement and repair on door skins and hood and then its time to decide how i wanna redo the seats to match up with the candy red and mother of pearl paint and start with lil user friendly mods to the interior ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Replaced alternator with new Chrome GM one wire alernator. Had to drill out hole to allow for larger bolt. had to relocate ground to keep in from contacting post on alt. Washed tons of mud out of everything. installed two more speakers, rewrapped header on passenger side. took side windows and rear window out to allow rain to more easily enter the vehicle (just kidding just bad timing on that one).
-
I guess you got it home OK?
-
finally installed the gear gawker i've had sitting on my workbench for the last year.

That's cool. How thick is it? I have some 1/4 lexan, I wonder if it would hold up?
-
1/4 on the lip, 1/2 in the middle. it is reinforced(a la bulletproof) glass. lexan would probably work for what we do.
-
that's pretty cool there Parker. im not sure I want to see in my junk....
-
I finally got around to washing mine and installing a fire extinguisher on the roll cage.
looks imposing, but it doesn't obstruct the view at all.
-
The move is over time to get back to the Bronco.
First a disc brake swap , then Paint
Hopefully by the end of summer it will be Blue ;D
-
Late post but last week I painted the the wind shield frame, both front door post and the dash. I have working on adding a 12 foot lean to to my garage for my boat, before I replace the rotten floor in the boat. I post pics later

alignment!

alignment!
Heck yeah, don't tear up those nice new tires. ;D
-
ordered a JB Fab twin stick. Might be able to get it aligned tomorrow.
-
ordered a JB Fab twin stick. Might be able to get it aligned tomorrow.
You will love the JB fab shifter, they are very well made and work much better than the stock J-shifter.
There isn't much that an alignment shop can do on an EB. The only adjustment they can do is Toe-in so don't let them charge you much. Also the factory specs are crap for a lifted EB with larger tires so they probably won't adjust the Toe correctly anyway.
-
Taking it to big ten. Mike has been an offloader for a long time and I trust his judgement with this.
-
Taking it to big ten. Mike has been an offloader for a long time and I trust his judgement with this.
I've been an off roader for a long time also and an alignment shop won't be able to do anything but toe-in. If they know modified EBs they may know not to use the stock specs if you're lucky. the only way to change any other alignment settings is to install adjustable ball joint shims or cut and rotate the knuckles. you don't want to pay them for that, do it your self. the only good thing about taking it to a shop would be if they can give you a printout so you know if you have a problem.
if you do get a printout let me see it and I'll tell you if you need to change anything. I know what it takes to make these things drive good.
-
think all i need is toe-in...something we can do at the house?
-
yep, it's easy. just need a tape measure and some masking tape. ;)
-
Drove it for Bronco Friday but it looks like everyone else. got the day off.
Also installed a pair of bronco II mirrors. now I can weld up the holes in the doors I don't need and get ready for paint
-
Finally found my trans leak. One of the cooling lines had a small gash in it, maybe 1/8". Cut and spliced and no more leak.
Also got my twin stick partially installed. Still need to cut the flags, hopefully tonight.
-
twins are installed! Kicking myself for not doing it when I had the transmission rebuilt.
-
youll love it. I had the twin on my NP205 in the 79. so much easier to shift. and 2 low is fun in mud
-
X2, you will love the twin stick. Wait till our next trail ride, you'll wonder why you didn't do it years ago.
-
think I'll start rounding up all my EFI stuff.
nope. Got to get the seats in next.
-
I started gutting and fixing some else's poor rust repair. I replace driver side vent window with one of my spares,(the latch was missing and a screw that was screwed into the rubber was the only thing keeping it closed . I added diamond plate rocker covers.
All of the fiberglass used on the inside to fix rust has been removed. now its time to break out the welder and scrap metal .
I removed all the tires and have it on Jack stands to start rebuilding the Brakes and checking bearings and seals.
I will post pictures of the progress soon.
-
Fixing more rust, and my hood scoop needed a little TLC. :)
-
Tucker starts soccer tomorrow, and, being the great father that I am, I won't let him arrive in a minivan. So, it looks like I'll be getting my toe-in fixed tonight. Anyone who wants to stop by between 8:15-10, feel free.
-
Sorry didn't see post till today. how did it go? did he make his first soccer game in the bronco?
-
before adjusting it was about 3". I lacked the time to get it perfect so I eyeballed it. I think I went a smidge too far and it wandered a bit on the road. I'll adjust it back in a turn and see how it does.
-
You should shoot for 1/4" toe in (1/4" less in front than back).
-
I actually did something today though I'll admit it wasn't much.
I have a friend in Atlanta that researches and does big dollar restos.
Were talking down to the crayon marks during assembly kind of stuff.
We spoke about what to do with an uncut 66 U-13 roadster that is now safely in out of the rain and sleeping happily in it's new stall over here. Next step is taking pictures. As soon as someone coughs up a title I may be able to get started on a couple of significant things.
Greg C
-
That sounds awesome, can't wait to see some progress.
-
I installed a windshield wiper motor, checked all of the brakes and reinstalled all the tires getting it back rolling, I re adjusted the driver door and unbolted the top to start getting it ready to rebuild. I have the title, when someone coughs up my missing transfer case and c4 adapter :D
-
I seem to remember someone saying that they didn't "want to bother picking a transfer case and c-4 adapter up tonight" but hey progress is progress.
-
finally ordered some rear shocks, now just need to get them installed. Also still need to get the seats installed :P
-
Twin sticks for transfer case installed.
-
You'll love em, best upgrade I've ever done to mine. 8)
-
ordered the wrong stinking shocks...Eye bushings are too small. Either need to drill them out, HUGE PITA, or send em back and order the larger bushings.
-
sent the shocks back and got the set with bigger bushings. should go in some time in the next week.
-
Waiting on some parts, should be able to install my front locker this weekend. Hopefully a new brake booster/master cyl also. May even fix the leak in my transfer case. ;D
-
well, the shocks still required some work to get them to fit. The top bushing had to be removed as it was too small to fit on the shock mount. The results were looser than I expected, but I don't see it being a problem. The bottom bushing had to be ground down to fit inside the lower shock mount. Took about 30 minutes of work to install both sides, but the jump up and down on the bumper test shows that they will work.
-
Waiting on some parts, should be able to install my front locker this weekend. Hopefully a new brake booster/master cyl also. May even fix the leak in my transfer case. ;D
Front locker? getting stuck a lot? :D
-
Not much but you never know ;)
-
Got my locker installed and repacked the front bearings. I also got the new master cyl and booster installed. I just need to make a few stainless brake lines and bleed the brakes tomorrow.
-
New master cyl and booster didn't work out so well. It was like manual brakes. The new booster is just to small. I ended up putting my old stuff back on.
If you're looking for a power brake setup don't get the eBay setup. I'll post a link to it so you guys don't get the same one.
The eBay item number is 321185957553
-
wow, that booster is at least half the size of mine.
-
It rides so much nicer with shocks at all four corners.
On another note, I left my keys in a buddy's car last night, so I had to drive the bronco to work. Still needs some tuning, not enough advance and the engine stutters once it warms up, but couldn't ask for better weather :)
-
I noticed that both of my front axle seals are leaking now, a lot. They didn't leak a drop before I installed my locker. Now I get to pull it all apart again. >:(
-
Lonesouth, glad you have driven it again hopefully that keeps you from wanting to sell it.
I will be doing an engine swap next week, going to get my red trail truck going so I can strip and paint my other one.
I will be doing this at the whiting's so we can use the lift.
-
A lift will sure speed things up.
-
List of things to do:
1. replace steering linkage with stone crusher
- this will both tighten up my steering and recenter my steering wheel
2. replace 32x11.50r15 and FSB wheels with 16" wheels and 33x12.50r16
- will allow running without spacers and allow the tires to be balanced better
3. replace rear bearing that ticks
4. EFI
5. brake check all around
6. replace front seats
-
I should have some freedom after this weekend. Maybe I can actually get my seats in and fix some stuff...
-
Removed soft-top from 74 moved Hardtop from 73 to 74 bronco and began fixing rust issues. I was finally able to make time to get my title for the 73 so it will be off/on-road ready soon.
-
Be sure to take plenty of pictures to track your progress. So the red one is going to be the trail truck right?
What did you decide to do as far as engine/drive train goes?
-
Yes the Red one is my Trail Truck. I will be pulling motor, trans, and transfer case out of the 74 "primer one" and build a new 302 to re-install. I also received my twin sticks for the trail truck.
I have a wagon top for both not sure which is in better shape yet. I will post some pictures up of both projects
-
removed all carpet and insulation. rear seat. cleaning and painting seat brackets. removed center console, found mount holes in floor were wallowed out from over tightening. fixed that by hammering flat and then wire brushed to clean metal and primed/painted. pressure washer console in and out to get PO's crud and old coffee off. looks like new. cleaned and coated each bolt with silicone before bolting back down. just small stuff but fun.
-
I think we need some new pictures. ;D
-
no sir you need to set up another run then you can see it in person
-
I agree ;)
-
I'm ready too, lets get everyone together. 8)
-
tick tick tick
-
I took my tires off, going to drop them off Monday to get my new wheels mounted and balanced.
-
I pulled the motor, transmission and transfer case from one and installed it in the other one. added a leveling kit to my 2011 f150.
My ol'red trail truck will be ready to by the end of the year.
May be starting a LUBER project soon.
-
LUBER? We need details. ???
-
I am trading bodies, putting my 74 running gear under a 66 uncut wagon body.
I will post pictures soon
-
Got my new M/T Classic Lock wheels finally.
What do you guys think?
By the way, Discount Tires Sucks, Other than taking two days to mount 4 tires, not balancing them correctly even after I showed them the instructions from the wheel manufacturer, and scratching my new wheels up they finally got them done. >:(
-
SHINEY ;D
LOOKS GOOD
-
look great, did you get the National Wheel $99 deal on those? sucks about Discount. which one was it? I have used the Kilearn one for several sets of high end tires and no issues and they always cut me a deal based on how much I spend there over the years.
-
No, I did not get a deal at all. Discount also charged me way to much and did a terrible job. It was the one on kilearn center blvd. They got one major dent with scratches trailing it on one wheel and just minor scratches on the others. Not sure if they are balanced yet but they did not do it the way M/T explained to on the large warning page in each box, even though I showed it to them.
-
I was considering getting the lock ring powder coated black or maybe red. What do you think?
-
that could look good however first id call Discount and tell them they owe you new wheels. they should take care of you
-
I can't decide if it's worth the trouble, it's a truck and they are going to get scratched up anyway.
-
that could look good however first id call Discount and tell them they owe you new wheels. they should take care of you
X2 they need to stand behind their work...
-
Hey Lonesouth what size tire and wheel are you running on your bronco now?
-
FSB Alcoa 15x7.5 with 32x11.50r15 BFG A/T. 1" BL, 2.5" SL.
I still have a 4.5" lift I need to sell, if you're looking.
-
I do need a lift and may want to trade my 33" bfg's and 15*10 aluminum bullet holes because they wont fit on the luber I am building next.
How much for the lift I was just getting ready to order one from Jeff's
-
I may be interested in trading wheelse/tires if that's what you were getting at. Think mine should fit your luber.
Here is a link to the lift I have. 5.5"
http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-13935-5-5-ultra-deluxe-kit-1976-77.html
I was thinking about $450.
-
sorry still getting over the flu head is a little foggy. I will buy you lift this weekend if your available. and the tires swap would be great. I have a brand new 5th tire and rim if you are interested just knock 100.00 off the lift and I will throw it in as well.
-
just noticed the cost of that lift kit. I will throw in the tire
-
I know the drop tracbar bracket is missing, I am unsure on the u-bolts. Pretty sure I have everything else in one place. Don't think I have anything going on this weekend, though saturday would probably be better.
-
Saturday is fine for me I believe I have a drop trackbar bracket. if you want I can bring over the spare so you can make sure it clears on your truck
-
that'd be good. Give me a call saturday morning to figure a time.
850-273-8818
-
will do
-
I have decided that 5 1/2 lift I too much and as good a deal as that is I am going to pass.
I will talk to another friend this weekend to see if he is interested in buying it. I would still like to see about trading wheels and tires if you are interested.
-
yea, come by any time after work or saturday. call first to be sure I'm there...
-
Rebuilt my front axle (again) last night to replace the inner seals. I was going to install my new T-Bird calipers but they require a larger banjo bolt and no one has them in stock. Oh well, I guess I'll wait until after Christmas.
I did get my rear brakes replaced today. Also change out a bad emergency brake cable.
-
Finally installed my T Bird calipers. Had to modify my brake hoses to make them fit and was able stop them from leaking by installing two copper washers instead of one. I guess it will hold. I'll keep an eye on them but may end up getting some custom stainless hoses eventually.
I haven't driven it yet to see how they work but I'll let you know soon.
-
Everything has been swapped, wired, adjusted, bled, modified and tweaked on my 73 explorer in the last two weeks and it is now ready to go. except for one front axle joint that needs replacing.
-
Here is the latest Picture of my 73
-
My new front calipers seem to be working well. The extra stopping power is noticeable. It takes very little pressure on the brakes to stop. I need to do some "panic" stops to see how if behaves and make sure my front hoses don't leak but other than that I think they're good to go.
-
I think I may actually do some work on the bronco tomorrow during the rain...
-
May as well, the weather won't be good for anything else.
I may fix some more rust on mine. Ever notice that POR15 seems to work really well when it's damp out? I think the moisture activates it somehow.
-
Tell me about this por15. I've been using rust buster but my shop guy at work said the por15 was better. How do you apply it?
-
I have an open quart in the fridge if you want to give it a try. Just call to work out the hand off.

It's good stuff. You can spray, brush, or roll it on. It covers very well and I have used it by itself, painted over it, and sprayed bed liner over it.
-
Lonesouth, I'll be back in Tallahassee on Monday. I working on the bridges over little river on sr90 towards Quincy. I can meet you about any time either early or late. Let me know. I have some work to do on the passenger side floor so I'll try it there. Been watching videos on the stuff and my only concern is having to move my bronco outside my shop to wash it out with the hose. I'm thinking maybe just prep as I normally would then treat with rust buster then por15. Sounds like an awesome product. (229)3937370
I'll try and post some pictures so I can track my progress.
-
I'm fixin to try my first attempt at welding a patch on my hood. I have a spot I cut out of the leading edge that I'm gonna try. Wish me luck.........
-
Welding sheet metal is a little tricky but it can be done with a little practice. Maybe try on a piece of scrap metal first. That will help you get your machine setup correctly and practice never hurts.
-
Cut out and replaced a small strip across the old hood this afternoon. Had to turn the welder almost all the way down. (Miller 211) Went better than I expected but I'm gonna have to get better at bending the sheet metal to match. Should be much easier on a flat panel. I also might invest in a recess tool so I can overlap the panels rather than cut to fit. I'm gonna try to post some pics.
-
did an oil change
drained the trans and replaced the filter, along with the leaking pan gasket
installed a proper thermostat bypass hose
removed the degreed blocks from the rear and replaced with straight aluminum blocks.
removed the rear tires and spacers in anticipation of the new wheels/tires
-
transmission pan still leaks...AHHHHHHH. guess I'll pull it again and try to straighten out the corner...
-
Be sure to flatten the pan around the bolt holes. That's what usually gets bent.
-
Took a square to the pan, bent outa shape in every way. Pounded it to 1/16 or less gap all the way around and used rtv to seal it. Hopefully that will work. ATF is harder to get out of hair than 80wt.
-
restabbed the distributor one tooth advanced so I could get better adjustment. Before I could only dial in 5* till I hit the t-stat housing. Now I can go down to 0 and up to 20. Set the timing at 11 and the idle is MUCH more smooth. May reset the idle mixture screws and choke today.
-
Reinstalled the heater and it works!
Removed the bikini top to prepare for the hard top
It is still running a bit rough. Anyone want to stop by tonight and help me tune the engine?
-
I had to disassemble my winch to clean out the gear box. I had noticed that it was getting hard to disengage so I figured I'd pull it apart and I'm glad I did. I guess muddin in water up to my headlights was a bad idea because it was full of water/rust. I got it cleaned up and greased it with some good waterproof grease so I think it will be fine now. The motor side was perfectly clean just the planetary side was bad. I got it installed last night and pulled all the cable out to straighten it up and it pulled back in fine.
-
I posted this same issue and repair on FJ site months back. I had to order the damn Warn gasket (so I ordered 2). There was special spec grease, not sure it was waterproof but works great now. Every time I wash the FJ I swing the lever to be sure it moves easily.
Good work!
-
I finally put my Christmas decorations in the attic and made room to put the bronco back in the garage. I have to say that I LOVE the new ignition. No more cranking and cranking, just tap the gas twice, and it cranks after the first turn, even cold.
-
Not sure where to post this but at least I AM thinking Bronco.
Anyone got a Dana 44 laying around needing a Bronco? Since my motor is basically stock and I do not intend on serious 'bogging' or 'rock climbing' should I convert over or just beef up my Dana 30? Locker, axles? I do want to upgrade to disc up front in future...
-
What size tires are you going to run?
I have a housing that you can have but it has no internals and is real rusty.
-
35ish eventually.
is there anything that can be used off the dana 30?
-
No not really except the hubs. I'm sure we can find a d44 if you want to upgrade. With 35s I would, I've broke d44 stuff with 35s.
-
My BC fuel lines came in today :)
-
yeah i am going to upgrade that and front brakes too. keep ears open for anything. maybe get a rebuildable unit and hunt up some disc brakes off the late 77-79 f150 4x4?
-
If you can find a D44 from a fullsize Bronco or F150 with disc brakes maybe you can use the parts and my old housing and build one. You would have to get the long side inner axle cut down and re-splined of just buy a EB length inner shaft.
-
what year you think on this? still the 77-79 models or pre-dual ibeam style front diff?
-
I had a list of doner vehicles somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.
-
Bought the Harbor Freight Stud welder to use especially on my tailgate. I will post a pic of what I have done so far...needless to say, the metal is REAL metal and not coke can thickness. Note: there are two diff thicknesses of studs; I am using the smaller ones presently and I am 'breaking off' the studs after multiple strikes to move the metal. It is moving it but very stubbornly though. I will use the larger stud next to see how they work. Any one got any pointers that have used these on approx. 18 -20 gauge metal?
-
I always wanted to get one of those, can't wait to see how it works out.
-
Greg Chentnik has three parts broncos. I believe they are all DANA 44 but not sure
-
I have worked a little more with the stud welder. It is working and seems to be OK for a workshop...if you are going to buy one to use regularly, you will need to spend another $150 bucks (on top of the $120 of Harbor Freight) to get one to meet that demand. No problems so far; it is strong enough to weld the studs and not burn through on 'real' metal. I would be curious to see how it would work on panels on vehicles today. Forgot again to take some pics of what I am doing...and was too stupid to not take a beginning pic either. I still have at least an hours more worth of work to try to pull more out. once I post a pic you will see how it is even more challenging given the location of the 'dent' on the edges of bends, edges, etc..
-
That tailgate dent is in a bad spot. If you can fix that one the rest will be easy.
-
Here is a look the tail gate handle area and what I have done so far.
-
Here is of the lower dent in tail gate.
-
I also cut loose the Body bolts behind the seat area...you gotta love that "beer enduced - no thought given engineering" some rednecks come up with...
-
Here is the driver side...only I was able to pry off the dirt-dobber weld over the body bolt...hmmm, notice it did not even burn into the head of the bolt.
-
Looks like a pain but at least you're making good progress.
-
got the pan, filter and valve body removed. I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at though.
The trans fluid is much darker than new, may be burned, I've never witnessed burned trans fluid, so I can't say for sure. There is a dark particulate film covering everything. Looks like old motor oil.
-
Just an FYI. I was buying a few parts online and ran across bronco hut.com, don't know if any of you have seen it but they are a complete restoration garage out of Denver i think. Have 70 broncos for sale on their lot. They Make a ton of aftermarket trim parts among other things and I found a few things that i would have to pay big money for if I had them custom made. Toms or bronco graveyard didn't have what i wanted or anything close to that. Their website is a little lacking but getting redone but i sent a pretty inquisitive email and had a return call within fifteen minutes. I get the products Wed and I will tell you what i think about the quality. 8)
-
Well...the body is sitting level now and my doors look like they will now line up properly! The redneck body lift kit is now gone (amounted to 2 wooden blocks 2x4x3, tire side wall cut out in a circle - rounded with a hole in center (4 of them) and one 3 inch metal channel for the rear body lift, bits and pieces of a 2 inch body lift kit and lots of creative welding holding up the center two body mounts - and let's not forget some 3/8s inch threaded rod with Nuts welded on top to make 7 inch bolts and holding up the front the body mount on the DS core support was blow torched off a piece of 5 inch angle iron. - I saved all of this, in case any of you need it) I will post some shots of all this crap............ Granted I am redneck and can get creative but come on the IQ to do this probably hovered around 27? ... I have about 4 hours of time to dismantle it all, while also repairing the creative welding and body mounts.
-
We need to find out who did this awesome work in case we ever need his help again. ;)
-
Gary, I'm back in town and should be around after work any time this week. Stop by if you get a chance to look over my C4.
-
I'll see what my schedule looks like and let you know.
-
This weekend I put my seats back a few inches and wow what a difference. I am not a tall guy but i do have long legs. I think the prior owner was part hobbit. Once I did that I did notice that they were very low to the floor so I added a 3/4" spacer to the front bolts which makes them sit a little higher/better. I have a few holes that aren't used now. Should I put something in those to seal the floor off from moisture? If so what would you recommend or just leave it alone?
A few inches of carpet in the front was pretty mangled from earlier installs. Any suggestions as to what I can cover it with for better esthetics?
I also put in a Tuffy storage box in the rear.
This week I am getting some Nerf bars put on. Almost anything that fits on a Jeep will fit on a bronco so i am looking forward to seeing how these look as the ones online for the older style broncos aren't that flattering.
Does anyone have an alarm on their broncos? Its not like it is hard to break into these things with minimal effort. Mine has a soft top so I was just curious.
-
I usually just put Bolts and nuts back in un-used holes to seal them up. Not sure what to do about carpet. Car Alarms are pretty easy to install but I have found that if someone wants something that doesn't stop them, just annoys people when they go off on accident. haha.
Cant wait to see it. sounds like a great bronco
-
Well, hopefully this pic posts. I am super happy although the angle may not show how good they look. Nfab Nerf bars made for Jeep wrangler custom fit by Tallahassee welding and mounted to frame instead of sheet metal. Big thanks to Kenny Small.
-
Looks great Bart. 8)
-
Pulled the old rusty top off and installed the 6 pt cage from the 66 parts bronco I bought a while back. Also installed the 4" lift from the 66 with new bushings and shocks. It is far from pretty but it is a blast to drive.
-
This is what it used to look like.
-
Bart those steps look great on there.
28Bubba the bronco looks much better with out that old rusty top. planning on fixing or replacing it ?
-
I like those seats. What are they out of? Did you hook up the electronics?
-
Seats are out of a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. I do have the seat controls hooked up on the drivers side but not the passenger side yet. I didn't hook up the heated seat part. They are very comfortable.
-
Starting to look like a Bronco - aligning body panels and final metal repairs.
-
Looking Good BTimmons
-
Heck yeah, lookin good pal. 8)
-
Bartemus1,
I saw your bronco on Hermitage yesterday. That is one nice rig. I don't think my old rusty 74 will ever look that good!
-
Hey Thanks, you were in my hood.
I can't take credit for everything as I sort of cheated and bought it frame off restored from the head mechanic of a Ford dealership that was hurting for cash. I am tinkering however. This is a bit of an addiction..... Seems like every time I go to fix or replace something it isn't where it usually is. Got new exterior LED lights and some roll cage pads on the way. Then I swear I am through. Except if I replace the tires........ ;D
I probably need someone to take a look at my transmission. Seeing how i can't do that myself is there any mechanic or company out there that someone recommends?
-
Hey Bart,
I have a great transmission guy who can look at it for you . He is a close friend and we used to work together years ago. Nationwide Transmissions is the business and Mike Helton is the Trans God. ;D I can give him a call and let him know you are going to stop by so he can take a look, just let me know when is good for you.
By the way, you are fooling yourself if you think you will ever be "Done" with your Bronco. It is an addiction. ;)
-
You are the second person to highly recommend Nationwide so I am sure i will be giving them a call soon. I may try to take it by there Friday. And yes, I may be done with this one. But, no one said I can't get another one and build it up myself.
Thanks Gary
-
got the new tires off, the new spacers and old tires on. Sore as all get out today.
-
Come on man it's just tires. You think your sore wait until you get my age. ;)
I dropped Nick's truck off with Mike yesterday, getting the Tranny overhauled. When do you want to pull yours?
-
Thanks for swapping back. :)
I really appreciate you doing that your a true bronco brother.
-
I was figuring on wednesday after work. I'll see if adrienne can get tucker, should allow me to get home at 5:20.
No prob Blair, between you and Gary, I could never make up for the help received.
-
Today got my windows tinted in the front and man that makes a huge difference in the esthetics. Dropping it at Nationwide on monday so they can check my transmission. I don't have any issues but that is about the only thing that is stock on this rig.
So, on to my next question. I have an older wild horses 4x4 pre runner style front bumper that isn't made for a winch but you can install one if you want to drill into the bumper. I was considering putting on a winch. I was told that it is only held on by two bolts and that if I actually used the winch it would more than likely harm my frame due to lack of strength. I assume that they all mount in the same fashion, the bumper that is. Did anyone reinforce their bumpers or are bumpers designed for winches mounted differently or modified? I doubt I will ever be inclined to do any heavy bogging and or rock climbing but for some odd reason i really want a winch. Comments?
-
I would have to look at it first before I can make any recommendation on reinforcement. I built my bumper specifically for a winch so it's going to be different than yours. Mine has channel iron that goes into the frame rail about 6 inches to reinforce it.
Parker has a pre runner type bumper with a winch and it seems very secure. We should be able to compare it to his.
-
I put a grade 8 bolt cross ways through the frame in addition to the factory bolts. If it rips out, i'll rebuild and make it bullet proof.
-
Thanks for the referral to Mike at Nationwide. All checked out well.
I still would like to get together and see all of the mods that everyone has done to their Broncos. Are we ever going to try to meet up?
-
I think we should all try to get together soon. I'm open for suggested times.
-
Gotta reschedule to another day for the transmission removal. I was laid up Friday through Sunday with a fever and we are supposed to go look at possible new to us Sequoia for Adrienne at 6 Wednesday.
Let me know what days work for y'all, and I can work around that.

I can probably do Thursday after work.
Any other Bronco Brothers should come by and lend a hand and talk Broncos.
-
Thursday should be fine.
cokes, beers, water, burgers, dogs will be provided.
-
Confirmed with the wife for thursday. I'll be home around 5:30.
-
Sounds good, but hopefully you aren't still sick? :P
Blair said he could make it Thursday also.
-
I'll have been on antibiotics for 4 days at that point, should be better...If not, I can suck it up...Going to try to drop the driveshafts, drain the TC, and remove the rest of the linkages tonight while the wife is away.
-
I'd like to meet up with you all. I'm far from a mechanic but i am good company. Keep me posted and I will need an address.
-
In light of all this rain, don't park on the grass beside the driveway, park on the road or in the driveway.
Thanks!
-
Hey parker, send Bart your address.
-
Sent it earlier. If anyone is passing by, stop into tommy t's next to whataburger at midtown and tell john to come too. He just picked up a 68
-
Hi. I'm new to this and this is my first ever post. Don't slam me to hard if don't follow protocol. I was just inquiring about the meet and mechanic gathering on Thursday. Where (address).
And some help on getting some of my old clunker pics up for all to see.
-
Cool I just got my avatar up. Although not much to look at, she makes me smile.
-
Don't worry about being new. Its not about being use to forums, its all about having a bronco on here ;D
Hope you make it by Thursday would be good to see some of the members and their broncos
-
Where and when. I do wings or shrimp on Thursday nights with some old friends and riding buddy's but I would like to stop by for a short meet and greet.
-
Driveshafts removed
Torque converter drained and nuts removed
Transfer case drained
Cooling lines disconnected
Starter removed
Workbench cleaned up
Most tools put away
Fridge chock full of coke and water, maybe 9 beers
Was not able to unbolt exhaust from manifolds. If we need to cut it, I want a new system anyway.

I'll be there between 5:30 and 6:00. Should I bring any tools?

transmission jack, giant extension, battery impact wrench, wobble sockets.
That's what I recall came in really handy when we put it in.

You have a good memory, I'll just bring that stuff again.

Mike said he was going to pull the tranny apart last night before he left the shop. He was kinda baffled by why it failed the way it did. He wondered why it had silicon on the pan? Also the stuff in the bottom of the pan is clutch.
Can you document exactly what happened when it failed and what the symptoms where?l I couldn't remember exactly.
-
Silicon on the pan is because I couldn't stop the leaks from the gasket. I finally pounded the pan as flat as I could, 1/16" warp point to point anywhere and then I put silicon on both sides of the gasket to ensure the leak was taken care of. Probably would have been fine after straightening the pan without the silicon.
Today I was doing a long sandy hill climb in 1st gear 4wd hi, when I was nearly at the top, the truck suddenly stopped going forward. Initial thought was the shift linkage, which we worked on and were able to get D-2-1 working again. However, there were no positions that gave park, reverse or neutral. All of these gears put a load on the engine, but didn't give any forward movement. When it first stopped, I tried shifting around to re-engage 1 and heard a a grinding noise like if you tried to shift the t-case at high RPM. Not a clunking, more of a whirring.
Magically, after sitting for two weeks, I have all the gears again, including engine braking in 1st. However, there is a whirring and slipping when going into D, and reverse loads then engine more than it should.
That's the last time I had it running before we pulled it.
-
I'll let mike know.
-
I added another horse to the stable today. It is a mostly stock 78 . It has a 351m 4 speed. Needs a tune up but made the drive from Bainbridge
Looking forward to a nice full size.
-
What happened to the 79 you were going to get?
-
I put in the Wild Horses Deluxe exterior LED lights this weekend. All of them look pretty good. A big difference. But, of course the brake lights (the most expensive parts) don't fit my brake light housing. So i had to order a few parts to try to make them fit. I know they can be modified to fit but in a side note the flasher they supplied didn't really work. So, i have the older brake lights and older flasher in and everything else LED. Gary, did this happen to you too? Could i leave in old flasher and use a resistor of some sort? Just curious. I have no idea how this thing is wired.

That is the same thing I ran into. I still have normal brake lights and everything else LED. I haven't really had any time to figure out the best fix. If I do I'll let you know.
-
Keep me posted. I know I can make the lights fit but I have to order a few coupling nuts online in order to do so. I saw another after market flasher for 10 bucks so I ordered that too. So after this week I should have something figured out.
-
What happened to the 79 you were going to get?
It was not as nice as the pictures, and the pictures made it look rough
-
I'll let mike know.
I found my bags with all of the bolts labeled, that I took out of the trans, so I'll be stopping by again today at lunch.
-
Could i leave in old flasher and use a resistor of some sort? Just curious. I have no idea how this thing is wired.
Bart, that should work. I'm not sure what value resistor you need, but you have the right idea.
-
Mike is out of town for the week. guess it'll be the next week. Gives me time to get my fuel line installed.
-
Blew a tire on the way in this morning and while loading it onto the traior I cut another one.
So here is the question to the group.
How big a tire can I put under a uncut stock 67?
-
What wheels do you have?
-
Factory I think. 15"
-
I believe a 31 10.5 will fit but may be close off road , a 30 .9.50 or a 33 9.50 will clear on a stock 7" wheel
-
Think it is a 32x9.50 that will fit without rubbing. 10.50 definitely too wide
-
Have a good weekend guys.
-
You too Pal.
-
I welded my driver side window frame back together last weekend. Drove it to work this morning and it's nice not to have the top of the window flopping around anymore. 8)
-
I went ahead and purchased the billet aluminum front and rear light trim kits. I will post it when it is done.
I am still perplexed on why these LED brake lights do not work while all the others do. I can get some to work when the head lights aren't on but not when they are on. The brake lights and turn lights do not work. I know there are other flashers in the vehicle. Maybe swapping those all out? Any suggestions? Now it is a matter of pride and I want to figure something out. Hmmmmmmmm
-
Thanks for the tire info. Where would I find 32 9.5 15s?
Light problem. First question is have you tested the new LED lights out of the vehicle and if so do they work. Most lights have a 3wire plug and the center is the ground. So hook the center to a the ground post on the battery and touch a short piece of wire from the positive side to one side than the other but not at the same time. Caution do not let the pos side touch the neg side. It could get exciting. One side should be brighter than the other.
Do this than post he results.
-
I should add that I have not looked at my bronco light plug ever. But the newer cars I work on mostly work this way.
-
$500 later, I've got a rebuilt C4 and new torque converter. Hoping to install next week or the week after. I need to finish the fuel line replacement before I move on to the transmission. Just waiting on a 3.8-16 tap I ordered to come in.
Gary, Mike said to talk to him before we put it back in. Something to do with alignment and dowels...
-
Let me know when you start putting everything back in. I want more familiarity with the mechanical side of it.
I did install all of the billet light housings. They match up quite well for my bronco. Make it look a little more current and matches paint fairly well.
In regards to the LED lights. the front and both side LEDs work great. The only problem I have is with the brake light LEDs. I have installed a new flasher and even tried "resistors" and it all works the same. When the headlamps aren't on everything works as it should. When I turn head lights on the brake lights just stay constantly lit and do not blink when blinker is on to either side and if regular lamp is in it works as it should and blinks.
There is another flasher right next to the one I have replaced. Anyone know what that one is for? Maybe i replace that too and see what happens?
-
The other flasher relay is for the emergency flashers. I would try changing that one. maybe you will get lucky
-
I will try that when i get home. I did purchase another flasher just to try. I am not even sure if I have emergency flash capability anyway. How do you turn yours on? Is it through the headlight switch? If it is another button i don't have that installed on mine.
-
it would be on the dash normally but may have a switch on the steering column
-
I installed another flasher at lunch and tried both style LED lights and none work while headlights are on. I guess I am stuck on that one.
I also checked for any emergency light switch and i have none on the dash. I will check the steering column when I get home.
-
If you haven't put down the bucks for the tap yet let me know. There is a really good chance I have one. I have too many to keep track of.
Light problem, check the grounds really well. They can cause grimlens.
-
I'm going to finish up the fuel line install this weekend. Then start to tackle the transmission install. I also bought a complete fuel injection kit from broncomitch which should be coming in next week some time.
-
What efi did you get?
-
mustang, truck lower, adapter, car upper. Mitch said it is 100% and decided to go another direction. I have a nearly complete set except the harness isn't reworked. I've got a buyer on my stuff for $100 less than what I paid Mitch.

That will be perfect.
-
I did see a tan two tone old style f-series driving north on capital circle with a white hard top in the bed...haven't seen any mention of it here yet...
-
That Brett, He likes to carry parts of his Bronco around with him because it's not quite ready to drive yet. ;)
-
i am thinking about modifying the bronco top to fit the F250 long bed. Bits and pieces of my Bronco have been all over Tallahassee...or at least since February of 2009. 8)
Welded on my tailgate last night...sealing up my access panels cut to bang out the dents on the exterior where someone plowed into the spare tire and pushed it in the tail gate...
-
We are going to build a fire in my Bronco this weekend... :o
-
Be sure you record it, I want to hear that thing run. ;D
-
did you get some video of the bronfire?
-
Between the yard work and unexpected things...the fire Bronfire was not built. It will be this week or weekend.
I did work on my tail gate and wagon top. Will put some filler on the stitch welds on the tail gate and also wire wheel the drip rail on the wagon top. I dug all the old putty out of the drip rail..what a job! Good news is the rail is in great shape and no metal work is apparent. I do have one patch job to do on the top corner where they backed in to a sharp metal object and pierced the roof. will also weld up the cracks on the back corner - must be stress cracks??? will try to get that done during the week.

Going to start working on reinstalling this. Any idea what Mike was referring to on the dowels?
-
The block should have dowels on the back to align the tranny.
-
pretty sure it does. thanks
-
Managed to roll it out of the garage and pressure wash all of the mud from the run in Albany. Also, I was tired of dirt raining down on me while I was working underneath. Should make the trans install a little cleaner too.
-
Thanks Parker that will be nice not to have dirt in your eyes.
I ordered a single exhaust tired of the loud pipes , and a new aluminum radiator and shroud trying to fix an overheating issue,
I hope to install exhaust this weekend but it will be next week before I get the radiator.
-
where did you get the exhaust from, how much was it? I'll be going single after I get the trans in, but had planned on having Jones do the install.
-
I purchased it from JBG, It was $300 because I opted for the 2.25 inch factory style replacement. I will let you know how it fits and sounds soon
-
Installing the trans Thursday after work. Stop by if you want to help, drink some cokes or beers or just to hang out.
-
I will not be installing the trans tomorrow. The wife made plans today for us to do something with her sister and brother-in-law instead, color me excited.
-
Sounds like fun... Let me know when your ready.
-
In-laws have come and gone. What day, besides tuesday, works for y'all this week?
-
Blair is out of town right now, not sure when he will be back. I'll check my schedule and let you know what will work for us.
-
+transmission is bolted up. Still need to install the exhaust, cooling lines, t-case, x-member, driveshafts
-
Started blasting rims. Tried to add a pic but my pie brain couldnt figure it out.
-
To add a picture to any post just click the reply button, type your post, click the attachments link just below the text box, click the browse button, pick your image file, and click ok, click post. Let me know if you have any trouble.
I can't wait to see some pictures, sounds like you're making great progress.
-
Well I would not call it great progress but when I get the chance I do spend some time on it. I am working on the factory rims and the many coats over the years. I did get the motor running great. But I blew two tires so I am taking some time to do the rims. Than new tires. Thinking 31 10.50 15. Any suggestions?
-
got the t-case and x-member installed...bent the mess out of my new fuel lines, more like clearanced I suppose, not going to worry about it.
Still to install:
1. starter cable and battery connections
2. starter
3. exhaust
4. trans cooling lines and dipstick
5. speedo cable
6. torque converter to flywheel
7. driveshafts
-
Are the rear fenders cut out or stock? 31-10.50-15s on stock wheels look great on an uncut but may be a little small looking if the fenders have been cut out.
-
You're getting close now. I wish I had time to come help this weekend but I'm tied up. Blair has gone out of town Camping/mud bogging and won't be back until Sunday. If you don't get it finished up this weekend maybe we can come by early next week and help?
-
I'll post up as if get more progress. Hopefully I can get it running while the kids are napping. Only took about an hour to bolt up the transmission and two hours for the t-case/x-member. I'm really starting to get worried, because this stuff should be taking much longer and causing more grief, so clearly I must be missing something.
-
No, you are just getting better at this stuff. ;)
-
No, you are just getting better at this stuff. ;)
which is really unfortunate
-
It does get faster the more you do it.
Yes mine is uncut. How big can I squeeze under the fender with a 2.5-3.5 lift? I don't think I want to go any higher at my age.
-
Just a question.
Where is the best place to get fenders and are the fiberglass ones worth a crap?
-
I hear ya, 2.5" lift on mine is plenty tall. ;)
31-10.50- 15s on stock wheel will fit fine. With a little work you can fit 33-10.50-15s but it's tight.
The steel fenders are way better than glass.
-
I've got 32x11.50s with 2.5" suspension and 1" body lift
-
http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/pts/4564110780.html
Course these are a good deal though
-
I've got 32x11.50s with 2.5" suspension and 1" body lift
His is uncut so 11.50s are to wide without a ton of lift.
-
Thanks for the help and the link.
Sent a email to the person with the tires for 2bills.
Does anyone have a line on Steele fenders.
Also I have a great debate going on in my head. To w
Swap a good running low mileage 289 and man Trans with a fuel injected motor with an auto.
Any thoughts anyone.
My goal is to build a daily driver with a camper insert for a retirement trip in 10 years or so.
Need reliable and gas mileage with just enough power to move the rig. Not looking for a race truck.
-
Keep i mind that the 11.50s really won't fit without cutting the rear fenders.
The EFI will give you a little more gas mileage and be reliable for a daily driver. The auto will be much easier on the truk and make driving with the extra load of a camper much easier.
I'm really interested in your camper plans, be sure to share when you get to that point. I'm a camper also and have some plans of my own.
-
I am a simple guy. I like the less is more. In 2010 I did a 26k mile trip around america and canida on a motorcycle. I learned that you can live on almost nothing if you have a safe place to put your head, food in the belly, and a few dollars in the pocket. By the way I did 26k miles in 96 days. Visited most of the national parks. All 4 corners of the us and the alkan hwy. Also went to Prudhoe bay and homer ak. Yes I got hot, cold and wet but I wouldnt traid it for anything. Recommend it to every young man. So the camper will just be a insulated shell to sleep and carry a few extra things. Light and simple. No built in bathroom or cooking anything. On the trip I was able to get to (way ou there) places. Park where the big rigs cant. Well, too much info.
-
That is awesome sounds like a great trip. I am sure the trip you take in the bronco will be a great adventure.
-
Man that sounds awesome. You should do a video documentation of your trip, In the Bronco you will be able to reach all the cool places.
-
Man I got long on that. Sorry.
Iv been looming at some campers and they are all to fancy for me. I think I want one to put in and out taking advantage of the removable top. Will make it out of aluminum. And very basic. Also thinking about a v6 with auto.
-
Yea it was a trip of a lifetime. It took me 10 years to put it togagher. Job change, kids grown-up saving money and what and what not to see and do. Want to do most of it again and some other stuff as well but this time with my better half.
-
Gary what kind of camping do you like?
-
I love all camping but lately my wife will only go if we take our camper, she likes the A/C. ;)
-

They used to make a slide in designed just for the Bronco but they are rare. If you can't find one maybe you could build one with the same design. I can't wait till you get started on it, I'm very interested in what you come up with.
-
It will be a while before I get into the camper, its been sitting for 5years and was used as a farm truck for most of its life. I got it running good finely. Going to look at the tires tonight that parker sent me the link to. Thanks parker I think. Hope to finish the rime within the next two weeks and have it back in the road.
Another subject.
Has anyone built a air bod for under the dash from aluminum for a/c? I want to put it in at some point but I want the air vents in the dash not hanging under like the last one I had was.
-
I cut vents into my dash for my a/c and they work OK but don't look great.
-
What did you use for the evaporator/heater core box. Did you convert the factory on after market.
-
By the way, thanks parker for the tire lead. I got 4used and pretty good shape tires for 2bills. They should last a couple of years or untill I gather the parts for the overhaul.
-
I used an aftermarket kit from BC Broncos. If I had it to do again I would go directly to Vintage Air and get their Gen 4 system for the Bronco, it has much better air flow than the one BC Broncos has.
-
Question: Follow this link and let me know your opinion on these sliders...need to put seats in before I take to Mike about trans.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/set-2-NEW-bucket-seats-UNIVERSAL-SLIDERS-original-OEM-/141190885309
-
Those are nice and low profile so they should work but I wonder if the ones off of my Bronco II seats would work for you? You can have them if you want em.
-
Sure! let me know - I can retrofit those to my bestop seats...need one more seat.
The bestop seat I have is a 'tan' Aquasport seat that is neoprene and is not made by bestop anymore; guess I will buy a vinyl spice seat like my Jeep and then put seat covers on them until I figure out what I am going to do.
Is your Bronco II seat sliders fairly 'flat' or low?
-
Yep, they are really low. I loved the seats until I spilled a gallon of oil on one of them. :(
I'll pull them off tomorrow and let you take a look at them.
-
10-4 sounds good; here is a pic of trial fitment with the Bestop seat...not anchored of course.
-
REALLY got to get the rest of the bed done and sprayed...will also re-spray the front floor boards as well. Will do so once I get it to the house to weld up my rear panel.
-
I like the looks of that seat, the color will look good with your paint.
-
wonder how it would look with fender flares and top shot in that light tan color...
-
I think black flares, grill, bumpers would look best.
-
Hey do you think you can bring those sliders or is it alright to swing by and pick them up?
-
Just put em in the Bronco, see ya tomorrow.
-
I got my new valve covers installed. I think they look cool but now I need to clean the rest of my dirty engine. :-[
-
I also got my new bluetooth stereo and speakers installed. I just temp mounted the front speakers for now. I'm going to build some sort of center pod for them soon.
-
I am exhausted and it sounds great. much quieter :)
Now its time to fix some rattles
-
Is it "stock truck" quiet?
-
I built a center mounted speaker pod for the front speakers, I think it turned out OK.
-
Its as quiet as my new RAM
-
brought the Bronco in for Mike but he can't see it till am tomorrow. No Park, Reverse or Neutral...we think it is the valve body...other note is that when running, you cannot place in Park with out the sound you encounter when trying to place the truck in Park while still 'rolling'.
-
Dropped Broncinstein off at Nationwide this AM; sort of curious as to what is going on inside that transmission. Mike was sort of ??? curious as to my symptoms.
:-[ Note to self: tighten bell housing bolts...tighten drain plug for X-fer case...in fact, go over everything on Bronco including re-check lug nuts on wheels.
-
I like this color and ... I may just buy me a 'half cab' to change up my look. This is darker than mine but I like the consistent color scheme throughout.
-
That's a sweet lookin half cab for sure..
-
I like those valve covers and the speaker box. I may want to look at it at some point if that is ok.
-
I like those valve covers and the speaker box. I may want to look at it at some point if that is ok.
I like the way the speaker pod turned out. It's just a simple three piece panel. I made it in three pieces so it would be easy to take out of the way if I need to work under the dash. It's 1/4 ply wood covered with black vinyl. It took me about 20 minutes to make it and install.

What did Mike say about the tranny?
-
it is not in the valve body...got to pull the trans out. >:(
Thanks to Parker for setting the jack out - I hope to have it out tonight ready to go back to Mike...something had to have broke knowing my luck. Oh well, this will give me time to also assess where all that oil is coming from...May have to give Gary a call if I have to drop that crank down...since I seem to have the magical touch for disaster these days on Fords...LOL
Sure hate this step backwards as I am ready to drive this thing!
-
Busy wkend...
Pulled main caps off and plastigaged. Noticed a split opinion when research plastigage use on forums... some think it is good, some think it is a waste as it fluctuates (not sure is see this unless there is a wrong way to use it). I think it is useful in showing the eveness of the journal and how it applies to the rod, main bearing.
Note Rod cap in pic - will replace this one (motor has maybe 45 mins on it??). It plastigaged with in specs but if you notice the round dark spot is what looks like 'trash' as it is raised up and you can fell it with your nail; also note the copper/brass color in the corner by the bearing groove - may not be visible in the rod pics...since there are marks on the opposing corner of this same cap - I am going to say this bearing got twisted or slightly tweaked when it was installed first. For 6 bucks I think I will replace #4 rod bearing. I only pulled three rods caps (all I could get to) but I think I may pull the remaining 5 tonight just to be sure and look at the wear patterns while I have the pan off.
Bought a new Melling HV oil pump while I was at it so hopefully my oil pressure will be good.
-
If you haven't installed the rear main cap yet be sure to put a little rtv on the joint between the two halves of the seal.
-
yep, did that and offset the seal about 3/8s inch as specified. put all mains back on last night - have not rotated the assembly yet. will put new rod bearing in #4 and rotate to look at other rod caps and bearings.
The seal went in fairly easy as it has 45 minutes ... maybe? on it. I WILL MAKE SURE TO USE RTV ON THE FLEX PLATE BOLTS AS THE THREADED HOLES GO STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE INSIDE OF THE CRANKCASE. Still got to get the trans from Mike tonight - clutches were locked with surface rust so he cleaned and freshened it back up at NC - really was my fault it sat for a while. I will do my BEST to not let it sit that long this time...esp since the bronco is still on my trailer in my drive way!!!
-
If you let it sit to long this time I'm taking that Bronco away from you. :)
-
let me know when I can swing by and get the trans jack back brett.
-
Parker I hope to have the trans back in tonight or tomorrow...
Replaced rear main seal, plastigaged mains and rods, replaced rod bearings 3 and 4, put in a Melling HV oil pump...and Mike cleaned up the trans from sitting...
Moral of story: Don't let a freshly built motor and rebuilt trans to be stored for 3 years with out some kind of fluids in them.... Let's hope I am rewarded for all this hard work with the engine running normal and the transmission at least giving me park, forward and reverse!
-
Hey Gary! what stereo did you get for da Bronco? Heard it was pretty good...does it do Bluetooth to the receiver from your phone?
-
Yeah, you need to see it, for the money it does everything very well. Hands free calling, blue tooth for pandora, amazon music, etc, blue tooth smart phone app that controls everything on the radio from your phone, remote, multi colored led display, reads text messages from phone, gets contacts from phone for voice dialing, all kinds of other crap and only $129. I also added some nice 6x9 sony 3way speakers and 5 1/4 sony 3way speaker and it sounds awesome, better than my $4500 Sony system in the Raptor, minus the bass from the sub.
http://amzn.com/B00HQXUH84 (http://amzn.com/B00HQXUH84)
-
better than my $4500 Sony system in the Raptor minus the bass from the sub.
I've got a few subs and amps laying around if you want to fix that.
-
I'd like to do that but I have so much crap in there now I don't know where I'd put one. ;D
-
Brett, did you get your trans back in?
-
I was in the area, so I picked up a trans jack from harbor freight. I was afraid it was going to be $300, but I walked out under $80.
-
I'm going to be r&r the trans tomorrow after work. Anyone wants to stop by, come on. I should be wrenching around 630.
-
I'll try to stop by.
-
Yes. I got it in late Friday. Got the Bronco off the trailer and now sitting in the drive way under a tarp.. it does have a park, reverse, and D, 2, 1...imagine that!
My Oil pressure is slightly over 20 lbs now due to the Melling HV...strong at 20 even when hot. Did not have time to place the mechanical on it but will do so; not worried about it - after I did the whole plastigage and replaced #3/4 rod bearings I feel comfortable for now. No oil leaks noticed either.
Now on to the body work and welding...may do some welding this week and finish that off so I can start back on body alignment and priming.
Sorry about the delay, Parker! I will get Gary's back to him this week.
-
No worries, with my luck, I'll get plenty of use out of my new trans jack...
-
FYI
I went to get a used rear fuel tank from a guy in Al and ended up bringing back a good 3speed, a carb, intake and drive shafts if anyone needs some of these parts I will let them go cheep.
-
got the trans fully installed, except for the shifter and NSS. Exhaust bolted up, still to do hangers. mini-starter installed. Fired it up, didn't even touch the throttle and it spun to life, idling like I'd been driving it every day. Only ran it for about 5 seconds, then I shut it down.
Still need to add fluids to the trans/t-case, hook up the NSS, and install the driveshafts.
-
It runs and moves on its own!
-
That's awesome news, hopefully no more tranny problems.
-
Man, she was running fine..then the starter cable shorted to the manifold...now its dead again. I replaced the starter cable and battery ground, still dead. Anyone want to come troubleshoot tomorrow evening?
-
I would but I'm having a medical procedure tomorrow morning so I won't be able to help till Friday after work.
-
Thinking about a lift for my Bronco; Parker, Blair said that you had a kit you wanted to sell a little while back- Do you still have it?
-
sure do. 4.5" JBG. I have almost all of the parts, including springs, blocks, adj. trac bar, drop pitman, extended brake lines, most of the bushings. May not have all of the u-bolts.
-
Cool, Which kit is it? I see the 4.5 Super flex system on their site. how much you want for it and what all does it need other than the u bolts? This kit shows shocks with it; are these with the one you have?
-
It is a 5.5, I misspoke earlier. It has never been installed.
http://shop.broncograveyard.com/55-Ultra-Deluxe-Kit-1976-77/productinfo/13935/
missing from this kit:
drop trac-bar bracket
u-bolts, I have 4, but I'm not sure they are the correct length.
I'm not certain that all of the bushings are accounted for. I have the majority, and the c-bushings, but have not checked to see what is there or not.
I have verified that I have the rest of it.
front coils
rear leafs
drop pitman
adjustable trac-bar
front/rear extended brake lines
radius arm drop brackets
blocks with built in angle adjustment, I ran these for about 2 months, so they aren't shiny any more
c-bushings
radius arm end bushings
so it looks like the only thing I KNOW you will need to buy is the trac-bar drop bracket, $58.
I think $500 is fair, considering what is missing.
-
Sounds good to me as I want to run 35s are larger eventually so, yes, I will take it. only problem is , as some of my former employees used to say, "I am waiting on my monies to get right"....LOL. I will know something in a couple weeks I would think.
-
no prob, just let me know when you want to get it.
-
replaced the battery and she fired right up! Back in business. Going to reinstall the front driveshaft tonight and take the top off tonight or tomorrow.
-
Cool, at least is was an easy fit.
-
popped the top yesterday. I don't think I'll ever use a hard top again, unless it is pristine. Too much work, effort and risk in removal/install, I'd sooner pay the $600 for a Rampage.
-
I'll never remove my hard top, it is way to much trouble.
-
is it the lifting it off? just fabricate a winch over head to lift off and store...one man operation within minutes in that case. the 'jeep' kit is about 300 bucks online - only question is how much overhead room you have to anchor the pulley support etc..
-
I've got no room that I'm willing to sacrifice in the garage ceiling. I stored it over the boat in the carport in the back yard. I used some rope, a ladder, two 2x4s, and an ratchet strap to get it up and keep it there. I had planned to concoct a lift using a come-along, but then I started thinking and headed down the more difficult path.
-
Gary or Blair, if you have some time in the next few days, could you stop by after work to take my bronco for a spin. I've still got a stumble in drive when warm, no stumble in 2 or 1, only drive and in at all gears. Also, wouldn't mind a second opinion on handling and overall roadworthiness.
-
We are going to be working on Lukes Jeep on Sunday at my house if you want to stop by. We are going to get started around 1:00pm.
-
Sounds good. Anyone have a spare 2100 carb I can try?
-
You need a 1.21 2150, I'll see what I have.
-
Lifted a 2012 JK over the weekend with the help of gary and parker,
Looks Much better
-
makes me want one.
-
Much much better. 8)
-
got it running on 8 cylinders...
changed the plug, wire, and bent the shift linkage out of the way
-
Glad you got it running better. getting my tires swapped on Thursday
-
I bet it runs much better, do you still think we need to adjust the carb?
-
I'll get a chance to drive it tonight. I do know that the garage doesn't smell as rich(gassy) anymore.
-
35's going on today.
-
I've had a chance to drive it a few times since replacing the wire/plug. It does still seems to shudder a little bit, and I don't think it is downshifting at all.
-
also looking for 1 big bronco alcoa bullet hole wheel.
-
Do you have a kick down lever attached? may need to adjust vacuum module or make sure there is enough vacuum on manifold where vacuum line is attached.
-
can you post on Tall Online Yardsale that your looking for a wheel?
-
no kickdown rod right now. Good idea to post up there about the wheel. Stop by and day after 6:30pm and we can settle up.
-
need to send my steering box off to west texas offroad. have about 20-30 degrees of slop. The box on my '73 was jam up. Hoping it comes back fresh.
-
Try to tighten the preloaded a little and see it help. It it has a little play when it's centered it may help.
-
Got my RR tail-light drop off (that I cut off month ago) stitch welded back on; almost done welding up everything in bed and back 'tub'. will be sanding inside bed to etch prime then Raptor line.
Also:
Skimming low spots on panels with All-Metal filler and leveling all out before shooting it with primer to begin blocking.
Getting closer...
-
Awesome, can't wait to see how the tail light housing turned out.
-
got plans to pick up a lincoln pro-mig 140 for $175 tonight. Figured I can't go wrong at that price.
-
got it! good shape too
-
That's a heck of a good deal.
-
Parker you may can get a deal on these Wheels
http://valdosta.craigslist.org/pts/4683787876.html
-
I saw those, but not sure when I'd be able to make a trip to valdosta. Like you said, i don't have to have it right now, and I don't even have a spare tire carrier right now if I did get one.
-
course, now that I have a welder that can do it, maybe I ought to build a rear bumper.
-
that sound like a great project for a new welder
-
anyone have a dana44 laying around? Just need one knuckle out including hub and axle.
-
Blaire, here's a halfcab bulkhead if you need one.
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246895
-
Thanks Parkere. But unless it comes with a half cab top I will wait. do you know who owns the other tan bronco with a cage in our area? I saw it Saturday around lunch near Wendy's and chick fil a but did not get a chance to talk to him
-
can't say that I do. not sure I've seen it.
-
I've seen it too but never got a picture. It's real nice.
-
working on a rear bumper build in my head. Thinking 1.25 schedule 40 pipe parallel bars with clevis mounts at the frame horns, and a dana44 hub to mount a tire carrier. Gotta put my new welder to work.
-
That's half the fun of getting a new welder.
-
Bronco Luncheon at Fisherman's wife restaurant in Tallahassee at 12:00 today
-
Sounds good. How many people are coming? I will try to get enough seats for everyone.
-
We should get there early according to Bret, Parker had to cancel, so far its Bret, Greg, and myself as well as your group
-
That was some good Mullets, we'll have to that again soon. ;D
-
Changed from 32x11.50 to 33x12.50

Lookin good.
-
Drove mine today, time for a new starter. and flasher relay. and fix the wipers , and decide what top to put back on it.
-
You just need to clean your starter out and lube it, it can't be wore out.
I bet It was a little cool for no top. :)
-
Started getting the Bronco ready for a little camping/fishing trip.
-
been driving mine every monday wednesday and friday in the morning. I need to take it in to Mike, it shift up fine, but it doesn't down shift on deceleration until you start to move from a stop. Also need to change the oil in the engine and rear axle. I'm probably not going to bother fixing the rear main seal or rear pinion seal for now, i'll just deal with the oil on the floor.
Also, need to send tighten the sector shaft adjuster to tighten up the steering(at least to what it should be) and maybe send the box off to west texas offroad if that doesn't fix it.
My biggest complaint right now is that the steering wheel is not centered due to my lift. Gary, I think you're running the same lift, 2.5" and inverted Y, how did you fix it?
-
I really didn't "fix" it. I put a new steering wheel on last year and just installed it straight. The box isn't centered but it still drives great so I'm not worried about it for now.
-
Took the Bronco camping this weekend on New River in Tates Hell State Forest. It was cold but we had a blast. Caught about 30 catfish. We cooked burgers and venison sausage, man was it good.
-
I just installed a new set of 33 " M/T Tires, I ordered a Rampage Black Diamond soft top, a complete carpet kit, a carpet hold down kit, 2 new bucket seats, a matching fold and tumble rear seat with head rests , and a center console.
now its time to gut and paint and install a new interior
-
where'd you order the top from an what was the total cost to your door?
-
Jeffs and 599.00 free shipping
-
Parker i also found you a spare rim
-
I'm only now seeing this, THANKS!
Also, i'll be putting the hardtop back on tomorrow after church. If anyone is around, I certainly would appreciate a couple extra hands.
-
scratch that. I got the top on this morning. went a lot easier than I expected. Now to bolt it up.
-
Making Progress on the rebuild. :D
-
Get er done! 8)
-
kids were sleeping, wife was sleeping, some clerical nonsense had been taken care of, so I had a little time.
I have not changed the oil in a LONG time, so I started it warming up and did an oil change amongst other repairs.
First issue to address is my steering. I've never been happy with it, always way too loose. I rebuilt the box 2 years ago, but that didn't help. I was about to remove it and send it off to west texas offroad, but I figured I'd check into tightening it up with the sector shaft adjusting nut on top. I had set it when I rebuilt the box, but never verified I set it correctly. I watched this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDLYLDBbWNw, made some adjustments, and man it is like a new box.
Second issue is that my steering wheel trim ring has always rubbed the steering column. I had looked into this before, and was not able to find some mythical spring that should keep the shaft pushed away from the column. I dug in some more and discovered that the snap ring which retains the bearing in the signal switch housing was not in the groove. Easy fix. Ground down the trim ring a little and now there is zero contact. Which I had discovered this years ago.
I can't believe how much better it drives now. Between the tighter steering and not rubbing, I think I removed some friction too which made the steering even easier.
I also bought myself some Christmas gifts. Who's up for a wrench-a-que? Need to install the new to me 4.11s and get the tires swapped to my new 15x7 SLOTS!
-
Glad you got a lot of things fixed. I am knee deep in trying to get mine rebuilt but I can try to help. Why do you want 4.11 gears. on trails it would be nice but driving daily may be too low.
-
most of the gear threads I read on classic suggest that 3.50 are too high for 33's. A lot of them recommend 4.56, but I know that is low for anything I am likely to do. 4.11's should be about the sweet spot and get me closer to the original drive ratio with stock tires.
-
Glad to hear you got the steering sorted out. I'll be working on my steering in the next few weeks too.
3.50 gears with 33" tires are just about perfect for a mostly street driven Bronco. If you are planning to be off road more than on the 4.11 gears will be better. The only place the 4.11s will hurt you is on the highway.

I haven't seen anyone suggest 3.50s after trying 4.11s. However, I will do the rear first and give it a shot to see how I like it. I suspect for what I use it for, I'll prefer it, as I don't spend much time on the highway. If I want MPG, I'll drive the minivan.
-
It's not really an MPG thing (broncos aren't made for that) it's more of an RPM thing. I turn 2500+ at 70mph with 3.50s. With 4.11s you will be over 3000. I don't know about yours but mine is loud over 3000. :)
That being said, I'm sure you will like 4.11s just fine but I like 3.50s just fine too. Just not sure if it's worth all the work.
-
I got my 1 ton steering kit installed. The install went smooth but I will need to fab a new steering stabilizer mount. The new links are 1.5" in diameter so the old mount won't fit around them.
I think I have my steering gear centered now but it was a little trickier than I expected. Hopefully I have it close enough. :D
I'll post some pictures soon.

Drove all over the northside saturday morning. Pic was taken at the new Bull Run development Ox Bottom/Thomasville.

Wow, awesome picture. 8)

i put 4:11 in my CJ5 with 35"x15:50 x15". with the 258 I-6 and T18 its about best for both on road (not hwy top speed is 45) and offroad. if I did it again id go 4:56. better crawl speed up in N Ga mountain trials.
that said I got 35" KM2's on the FJ and regardless of what all the forum dummys say it drives perfect on hwy and even better off. ratio is 3:73 and 4.0 v6 and 5 sp auto. its plenty punchy off the line. but its a modern fuel injected engine and not a good compare. Just saying changing gear ratios one size or so is not a game changer. But I think since you got them and a locker (right?) you will be happy with it around town and on the trail. One benefit you may have is better cooling by revving little higher when offroad slow trial riding. Also if your running the stock FORD pos alternator it will help keep volts up on those long trail rides.
-
Hey Bob, when did you put KM2s on the FJ? We need pictures! ;D

Very cool, looks awesome.

I trailer-ed home a 69 U14 With a fresh 302 from Theodore Alabama.
-
Hey Harley, Congrats on finding a Bronco but We need pictures. ;)
-
I'm not real savvy with posting pics. But it was the Tan 1/2 cab in previous for sale posts from Theodore AL that included A PTO winch bumper and AC in a Box. That was Dec. 23 fast forward a little and I had to return with the Bronco to the Mobile area Tuesday to straighten out a Al. registration typo I drove it there and when leaving the Tag office making a slow turn to the left the RR axle sheared at the drum and left the tire w/drum in the intersection. Thanks to Mobile PD and the seller I got towed to Majestic Auto Repair and left it for a Rental. and drove home with the hopes of getting it back Friday or Saturday this week. Parts didn't come in from Yukon so now I'm hoping for Tuesday or Wednesday to pick up and drive home. I will post more when I get it back
-
That sucks but at least it's an easy fix. Hopefully your next trip to get it will be better.
-
Hoping to get body re attached and floors finished this week. Its been months since I have driven my bronco but it feels like years....
-
Finally after many weeks of nothing, I am starting to make progress.
Body is reattached with 1" lift body bushings and door gaps are getting close .

Those body mounts can certainly be a pain. Glad you got past that part.

I recently removed my3 spd and D20 and took them to Dale at Performance Trans. It was jumping out of 1st and I figured a new bearings and seals was a good idea any way. well 1st was chewed up pretty good so I started looking for another, not to easy. someone on CB offered me his take off RAT, FREE .99. All I have to do is drive to Naples to get it. I am
patiently (Not) waiting to get that one and make the best of the two.
-
Hey Harley, I'd be very surprised if no one here in town has one they would give you. I'll ask around.
-
Started the painting process this weekend
-
Lookin good, getting close now.

Now that's a nice chicken coop. Great job.
-
Ive lived in worse dumps! the chickens wont appreciate it.
-
After Fighting with Points and condensors I did some testing and realized the PO had the new wiring harness set up mfor HEI, no resister wire. Pertronix came in yesterday put it in when i came home and seems to run perfect.... for now.
-
Glad you got it figured out. Cant wait to get mine back on the road. or off road
-
I've got the chicken coop "done" for now. Cleaned up the garage and workbench. going to start working on it again shortly.
-
I traded my fiberglass hood for a stock metal one
I fixed a broken brake line and rebuilt my starter.
I have created a deadline of the first of December to get this back on the road.
-
I should make that my goal as well.
-
[picked up some new to me pacer 15x10 bullet hole wheels. I'm gonna soda blast them before mounting.
tonight, I'm hoping to get the garage picked up so I can start working on the bronco again.

Going to look good. I am off next week and hope to make progress on mine..
Gary wants me to stop by and pick up an air cleaner for him if its still on your front porch
-
still there.
-
Hey Parker, Those wheels are going to look great, those are some of my favorites for a Bronco.
I'm back in town now and hopefully Blair or I can come by and get that air cleaner. ;)
-
got the wheels blasted(used calcium carbonate aka. chalk aka crushed limestone aka barn lime), then spent about 20 minutes each polishing with a power ball and some mcguires polish. They aren't mirror finish, more something between mirror and matte.
