Dana 44 High pinion
« on: February 09, 2012, 02:45:02 PM »
Just wanted to get some ideas and opinions.  I have a dana 44 out of a 79 Bronco.  I thought about just taking from the knuckles out and using it on my 74 with the tie-rod end bushings. Or another option is narrowing the HP 44 which does not seam too difficult from what I have seen online. What are you thoughts?

The third option is to run full width axles. Can you get the rear out of the same 79? Full width will make it more stable but will make it a little tougher on tight trails.

That is an option as I do have the rear end that matches the front.

If you decide not to run full width I would just put the brakes from the HP44 on your Bronco housing. The full size isn't that much stronger and the high pinion is really only good if you plan on a lot of lift. Not really worth the trouble to narrow that housing in my opinion.
