transmission jack, giant extension, battery impact wrench, wobble sockets.

That's what I recall came in really handy when we put it in.

You have a good memory, I'll just bring that stuff again.

Mike said he was going to pull the tranny apart last night before he left the shop. He was kinda baffled by why it failed the way it did. He wondered why it had silicon on the pan? Also the stuff in the bottom of the pan is clutch.

Can you document exactly what happened when it failed and what the symptoms where?l I couldn't remember exactly.

Silicon on the pan is because I couldn't stop the leaks from the gasket.  I finally pounded the pan as flat as I could, 1/16" warp point to point anywhere and then I put silicon on both sides of the gasket to ensure the leak was taken care of.  Probably would have been fine after straightening the pan without the silicon.

Today I was doing a long sandy hill climb in 1st gear 4wd hi, when I was nearly at the top, the truck suddenly stopped going forward. Initial thought was the shift linkage, which we worked on and were able to get D-2-1 working again. However, there were no positions that gave park, reverse or neutral. All of these gears put a load on the engine, but didn't give any forward movement. When it first stopped, I tried shifting around to re-engage 1 and heard a a grinding noise like if you tried to shift the t-case at high RPM. Not a clunking, more of a whirring.

Magically, after sitting for two weeks, I have all the gears again, including engine braking in 1st. However, there is a whirring and slipping when going into D, and reverse loads then engine more than it should.

That's the last time I had it running before we pulled it.

I added another horse to the stable today.  It is a mostly stock 78 . It has a 351m  4 speed. Needs a tune up but made the drive from Bainbridge

Looking forward to a nice full size.

I put in the Wild Horses Deluxe exterior LED lights this weekend. All of them look pretty good. A big difference. But, of course the brake lights (the most expensive parts)  don't fit my brake light housing. So i had to order a few parts to try to make them fit. I know they can be modified to fit but in a side note the flasher they supplied didn't really work. So, i have the older brake lights and older flasher in and everything else LED. Gary, did this happen to you too? Could i leave in old flasher and use a resistor of some sort? Just curious. I have no idea how this thing is wired.

That is the same thing I ran into. I still have normal brake lights and everything else LED. I haven't really had any time to figure out the best fix. If I do I'll let you know.

Keep me posted. I know I can make the lights fit but I have to order a few coupling nuts online in order to do so. I saw another after market flasher for 10 bucks so I ordered that too. So after this week I should have something figured out.

It was not as nice as the pictures, and the pictures made it look rough

I found my bags with all of the bolts labeled, that I took out of the trans, so I'll be stopping by again today at lunch.

Bart, that should work.  I'm not sure what value resistor you need, but you have the right idea.

Blew a tire on the way in this morning and while loading it onto the traior I cut another one.
So here is the question to the group.
How big a tire can I put under a uncut stock 67?
